Objective: analyze the insertion of the nurse midwife in a teaching hospital in Rio de Janeiro State. Method: descriptive, exploratory study of qualitative nature, study case type, carried out in a maternity in the mountain region, with nine healthcare professionals and six managers. The data collection occurred from December 2016 to March 2017, by semi-structured interviews that subsequently transcribed and submitted to content analysis in the thematic modality. Results: difficulties were observed for the insertion of the nurse midwife such as: lack of specialist nurses in the delivery room; absence of space for the professional autonomy; political partisans influence in the health management; acting conflict with the obstetricians; no team support, mainly with regard to workers qualification. Conclusion: this study shows the need for direct insertion of the nurse midwife in delivery and birth, especially valuing humanized care and autonomy for professional practice.
Objective: To analyze the empathy of Edith Stein and the sympathy of Max Scheler for an ethical care of the other. Method: A reflexive, philosophical study anchored in the philosopher Edith Stein's thoughts about empathy for the care of the human person, and likewise of the philosopher Max Scheler on sympathy. It intends to converge the thoughts of the thinkers with the intention of presenting the importance of the care with the person. Results: Stein's empathy leads the human being to perceive the experiences of others and the need for the ethical care of the other; Scheler, in relation to sympathy, brings love as the basis for the ethical care, essential in this relationship with the other. Conclusion: Life and care are become necessary for human relationships, and thus, according to Stein and Scheler's philosophies, each person is invited to perceive the other as a human being.
Objetivo: Identificar e analisar os valores expressos nos discursos das mulheres/gestantes acompanhadas no Programa de Pré-natal, a respeito da assistência recebida. Métodos: Estudo fenomenológico com abordagem qualitativa. Foram entrevistadas 12 mulheres no período de janeiro a março de 2013 acompanhadas no pré-natal nos serviços de atenção básica do município de Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. Os depoimentos foram transcritos e submetidos a análise compreensiva para a formulação das categorias e articuladas com a Teoria dos Valores de Max Scheler. Resultados: Emergiram as seguintes categorias: O valor do acolhimento no pré-natal sob a ótica da mulher/gestante e a humanização como uma ação que implica em mudança de valores. Conclusão: Concluiu-se que o acolhimento e a humanização no cuidado durante o pré-natal são valores vitais e afetivos, portanto, valores em si mesmo. Contribuindo assim para refletir a assistência pré-natal, objetivando o direcionamento desse atendimento às necessidades específicas de cada mulher.
Objectives: to analyze how certified nurse-midwives identify preceptorship in a nursing-midwifery enhancing course conducted by the Universidade Federal Fluminense as a possibility of training to promote institutional support and intervention. Methods: a descriptive, exploratory research with qualitative approach. Six certified nurse-midwife preceptors from the Nursing-Midwifery Enhancing Course participated in the study in 2019. Two public maternity hospitals in Rio de Janeiro were settings of the research. Individual interview and thematic content analysis were used to collect and analyze data. Results: exchange of knowledge between preceptors and trainees encouraged learning and reflection stemming from delivery and birth, contributing to expansion of autonomy and professional leading role in training, health care, and management. Final Considerations: collective meetings that promote work analysis and value the performance of certified nurse-midwives have led to intervention processes and institutional support in maternity hospitals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
