The bilateral cochlear implant provided better speech perception in silence and in noise situations when compared to the unilateral cochlear implant, regardless of the interval between surgeries, age at the surgical procedure and the time of use of the 2nd cochlear implant. Speech perception with the 1st cochlear implant was significantly better than with the 2nd cochlear implant, both in silence and in noise. The use of the hearing aid prior to the 2nd cochlear implant influenced speech perception performance with the 2nd cochlear implant, both in silence and in noise.
O Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde (DATASUS) surgiu como um instrumento responsável por dar suporte em sistemas de informação aos órgãos do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), apoiando dessa maneira os processos de planejamento, operação e controle do SUS. Esse estudo teve como objetivo verificar como os dados disponibilizados pelo DATASUS têm sido utilizados em pesquisas científicas. A seleção dos artigos científicos foi realizada por meio de levantamento bibliográfico em periódicos nacionais e internacionais acessíveis via internet na base de dados PubMed. A palavra DATASUS foi utilizada na busca dos artigos. A pesquisa realizada a partir da palavra-chave proposta na base de dados PubMed, para o período entre 01/01/2018 a 01/05/2019 produziu 35 citações. Após a triagem dos artigos, 2 foram excluídos. Foram lidos e analisados 33 artigos completos, destes, 17 foram publicados em periódicos internacionais (51,5%) e 16 (48,4%) em periódicos nacionais. As unidades de análise mais utilizadas foram: óbito em 44,1% dos artigos e internação em 32,3% dos artigos. O DATASUS é um instrumento implementado no SUS há 28 anos e possibilita analisar de forma consistente inúmeros aspectos que envolvem a saúde pública no Brasil, apesar disso, ele não tem sido utilizado efetivamente nos últimos anos.
Objective: To verify the effectiveness of a nursing training program in the area of children’s hearing health using interactive tele-education. Methods: Interrupted time series with non-random control group pre-test/ post-test. A cohort of 41 nurses, with no previous formal training in hearing health. A “Children’s Hearing Health” Cybertutor was employed. The effectiveness of the nursing training was verified by comparing pre- versus post-training performance and by analyzing responses to an evaluation questionnaire. Results: Following training, the performance was significantly better in all domains assessed and in the total score. The evaluation questionnaire demonstrated that the Cybertutor was well accepted and the performance revealed in the pre-training phase demonstrated the need for children´s hearing health training. Conclusion: The effectiveness of the nursing training program in the area of Children’s Hearing Health using interactive tele-education could be proven, since there was an improvement in performance in all domains evaluated.
This study aimed at characterizing the auditory speech perception of individuals undergoing cochlear reimplantation surgery. Out of 1,323 individuals undergoing cochlear implant surgery from 1990 to January 2016, 84 (6.3%) subjects underwent cochlear reimplantation surgery. From this total of 84, 68 individuals met the inclusion / exclusion criteria of the study and were evaluated using auditory speech perception tests in three moments: before the second surgical intervention, after reimplantation and the last follow-up evaluation. The variables studied were: a) reason for cochlear reimplantation; b) etiology of hearing loss; c) age at first surgery; d) time cochlear implant use before reimplantation; e) recovery time from the previous intervention score; f) time of current use; g) score in the procedures of assessment of auditory speech perception before and after cochlear reimplantation. The data analysis showed that the most common cause of reimplantation was the failure of the internal device, followed by medical reasons. In the auditory speech evaluation, a total of 61 (89.7%) recovered performance before cochlear reimplantation, and seven (10.3%), did not reach the same performance. It was verified that the variables age at the first Implant and time using the first Cochlear Implant, as well as time of reimplantation, influenced the results. Cochlear replantation surgery is a viable procedure, however, the family and the patient should be advised on the possible compromising risks to the auditory speech perception.
