Positive influence of emotional intelligence (EI) on psychological functions is fast growing in many aspects of social life and higher levels of emotional intelligence can be important in human's behavior. So this study investigated emotional intelligence in addicted and nonaddicted people. Method: In sampling process a total of 73 addicted people and 73 non-addicted people were randomly selected. All participants were requested to complete Schutte´s Self-Report E / I Test (SSREIT). Results: Findings indicated significant differences between two groups in components of emotional intelligent. Nonaddicted people had more scores in appraisal of emotion, utilization of emotion and general score of emotional intelligence than addicted people. Discussion: Findings indicates that applying of plans in the field of increasing emotional intelligent can help people with positive attitudes to addiction in order to manage the bad problems and event and as a result reduce tendency to addiction.
AimThe purpose of this research is comparisional investigation of intelligence quotient and anxiety level of high school boys living in up and down area of the city in this research. Up area of the city means area of a city that has good and sufficient equipments and schools with skilled teachers for teaching and instruction, and down area of the city means area of a city that has not good and sufficient equipments and schools with skilled teachers for teaching and instruction that residents of this area live in edging of city.MethodResearch method is causative - and comparative. The sample of research were 100 high school boys (50 people from the up of the city and 50 people from the down of the city) that randomly selected and responded to Cattle's intelligence test “form A” and Zang's anxiety questionnaire. For analyzing the data, “T” independent test were used.ResultThe findings showed that there is meaningful difference in intelligence quotient between two groups. It means that the high school boys who live in up area of the city have more intelligence quotient rather than high school boys who live in the down area of the city. But there is not meaningful difference between two groups anxiety level.
AimThe purpose of this study was to investigate relationship between personality traits and mental health in athlete students. This study was a descriptive and correlation design.MethodSixty athletes students were randomly selected and responded to NEO-PIR inventory and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ 28). NEO assesses five personality traits: Neuroticism (N), Extroversion (E), Agreeableness (A), Openness to new experience (O) and Conscientiousness (C), and GHQ assesses four dimensions: Somatic symptoms (A), Anxiety (B), Social withdrawal (C) and Depression (D). NEO assesses five personality traits: Neuroticism, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness to experience. The data were analyzed with Pearson correlation test.ResultsThe findings showed that there was positive significant correlation between neuroticism with somatic symptoms and depression, and negative significant correlation between extroversion, agreeableness, openness to new experience and conscientiousness with depression.ConclusionBased on findings, it is concluded that physical exercises and sport plans have positive effects on mood and affect of students, and decrease physical and mental diseases in athletes students.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.
