Background:Visual impairment tends to evoke more discomfiture than any other disability. Primarily, the biggest issue may be that blindness is visible. Furthermore, visual impairment develops serious medical, psychological, social and economic problems.Objectives:The focus of the current study was to investigate the psychological and psycho physiological problems of visually impaired adolescent students.Patients and Methods:Purposive sampling was adopted to select 150 visually impaired students (71 males and 72 females) from five schools in Coimbatore city of the Tamil Nadu state, India. Anxiety, frustration, aggression and social and personal adjustment levels of the visually impaired students were measured in this study using Taylor’s manifest anxiety scale, frustration test, aggression scale and the adolescent adjustment inventory, respectively.Results:Anxiety (χ2 = 185.66, P = 0 at P < 0.01), frustration (χ2 = 167.23, P = 0 at P < 0.01) and aggression (χ2 = 57.66, P = 0 at P < 0.01) were significantly related to adjustment among visually impaired students. The adjustment score had a significant positive correlation with anxiety (r = 0.919, P = 0 at P < 0.01), frustration (r = 0.887, P = 0 at P < 0.01) and aggression levels (r = 0.664, P = 0 at P < 0.01), anxiety was significantly correlated with frustration (r = 0. 961, P = 0 at P < 0.01) and aggression levels (r = 0.727, P < 0.01) and frustration was significantly correlated with aggression level (r = 0. 637, P = 0 at P < 0.01) of visually impaired adolescents. There was a positive relationship between psycho-physiological disorders and anxiety frustration, aggression and adjustment among visually impaired students.Conclusions:Visually impaired students exhibited significant levels of psychological and psycho-physiological problems.
The current study is rooted in the theory of conservation of resources, exploring the associations between mental health factors namely stress, anxiety and depression with organizational citizenship behavior and counterproductive wok behavior. Data gathered from an Indian automobile sector revealed interconnections between the variables. It was found that stress, anxiety and depression have a positive relationship with OCB and stress and anxiety have negative relationship with CWB. The manuscript further evaluates the results drawing upon conservation of resources theory as we find striking differences between our hypotheses and results, and that opens up new avenues for future research.
Ultimately, every individual will find themselves in a caregiving or care-receiving situation at some point in life. As a family caregiver, an individual's effort to support their loved one during difficult times leaves them in a laborious situation. A remarkable number of caregivers caring for a loved one suffering from an acute illness experience a sense of meaning, fulfillment, and profound emotional and psychological rewards. However, lifelong caregiving for a significant one diagnosed with a chronic illness or disability could be onerous. The current book chapter elucidates to the readers the lived experiences of family caregivers of children with neurodevelopmental disorders. The caregivers of children with neurodevelopmental disorders go through a life-long caregiving process. Thus, this book chapter will attempt to illustrate narratives of primary caregivers of children with neurodevelopmental disorders and the paradigm shift they experienced during COVID-19. This research is a determined effort to ensure that the stories of these unsung heroes reach a wider audience.
Infertility has been one of the most pressing challenges in recent years. Infertility services have been postponed and rescheduled globally due to the start of this deadly pandemic. The current study investigated the psychological distress and social consequences of infertile couples during the COVID-19 pandemic. This review study examined articles on infertility, psychosocial effects, and infertility-related stress and pandemic. From the reviewed data, it can be concluded that the pandemic has affected the mental health of childless couples. Increased anxiety, stress, feelings of hopelessness, and fear of uncertainty were common psychological distress experienced by infertile patients during the pandemic. The results of the investigations aid in identifying the psychological concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic on childless couples, knowledge gaps, contemporary patterns, and cutting-edge psychotherapeutic approaches to handling distress.
Parents and siblings play a major role in influencing the self-esteem of an individual. The parents’ relationship with the child, their responses to the child’s academic performance which includes motivation as well as encouragement plays a huge role in building up a positive self-esteem which further helps them to develop a better personality; better career along with that self-esteem also helps one to solve their problems in life. In this research, data from 112 participants were collected through an online survey focusing on the relationship between parenting styles and self-esteem across a specific age range. Parenting styles were assessed using 20 question model(What questions, while self-esteem was evaluated using Rosenberg self-esteem scale. Through this research the effect of native place on one’s self esteem was determined along with the effect of other factors such as relationship with siblings, academic performance on self-esteem was analysed
