light level compensation (background light adaptation). Architectural considerations relating to imager design are reviewed with respect to both optical parameters and device fabrication technology. Means for exploiting the intrinsically low noise of the CCD are explored. Amplifier designs are described which take advantage of the fact that information in the CCD is stored in the form of charge packets, and is susceptible to clock noise pickup emergence from the CCD. These noise properties of charge coupled imagers are shown to offer unique possibilities for low light level television operation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
