Die Eigenschaften der Verbindungen [K‐([2.2.2]‐crypt)]3E9 mit isolierten Anionen E93– (E = Ge (1), Sn (2), Pb (3)) wurden EPR‐spektroskopisch bei Raumtemperatur und 77 K, magnetochemisch im Bereich von 2 K bis 300 K und cyclovoltammetrisch in Lösung untersucht. Die EPR‐Signale von Pulverproben und Einkristallen lassen sich mit drei g‐Tensorkomponenten beschreiben, was auf das Vorliegen von E93–‐Clustern mit Strukturen niedriger Symmetrie hindeutet. Die magnetischen Suszeptibilitäten von 2 und 3 folgen der Beziehung (χmol = C/(T – θp) + χ0 mit θp ≈ 0. Die Werte für C entsprechen einem Anteil von ungefähr 50% paramagnetischer Anionen E93– (S = 1/2). In Lösung beobachtet man für 2 und 3 irreversible oxidative Elektronenprozesse. Stromintensitäten und Peakform deuten an, dass unabhängig vom Material der Arbeitselektrode (Platin, Gold oder Glas‐Kohlenstoff) Adsorptionsprozesse eine wichtige Rolle spielen.
Single crystals of dihydrodibenzo[b, i]‐1, 4, 8, 11‐tetraazacyclotetradecinenickel iodide show metallic conductivity between room temperature and approx. 110 K. The crystals are orthorhombic, space group Ibam with four formula units per cell of the following dimensions: a = 20.245, b = 13.416, c = 6.418 Å. The analogous palladium complex is isomorphous, the cell constants being a = 20.452, b = 13.430 and c = 6.499 Å. A number of other partially oxidized metal tetraaza [14]annulenes also show electrical conductivity.
The crystal and molecular structure of the hexaazamacrocycle C24HI4N6 has been determined from X-ray diffractometer data. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 4.416(1), b = 9.972(4), c = 18.955(12) A,/3 = 95.48(4) ~ and Z = 2. The structure was derived from 536 reflections using direct and Fourier methods and was refined by least squares to R = 0.038. The polar molecules form stacks along the a axis with an inclination of 68 ~ and an interplanar distance of 3.32 A,. The size of the central hole of the molecule is defined by the diagonal distances N(2) 9 9 9 N(2') = 3.681 (10) and N(3) 9 . 9 N(3') = 3.771(9) A of the o-phenanthroline nitrogens. This is too small to accommodate Pd 2+ or Pt 2+ in the hole.
