The heed on natural medications and their usage have been expanding quickly as of late, even in regions where present day medication is accessible. Plant derived substances and herbal drugs ,recently attracted great interest towards their unique & vast applications. As medicinal herbs, have bioactive compounds in abundance & can be utilized in conventional and current medication. There has been an increasing demand for plant based medicines, health products, pharmaceuticals, food supplements. The Objective of this Study is to enlighten the various immune enhancing properties of ginseng & to deliver these immune strengthening properties of ginseng it has been formulated into a syrup dosage form. Formulation of syrup was designed by utilizing extracts of Panax Ginseng, Sucrose, Benzoin & required quantity of Distilled water. The prepared herbal syrup was evaluated for different physicochemical parameters like pH, color, odour, taste, density, specific gravity, viscosity and stability. A review of Panax ginseng chemical constituents present in various parts of Panax ginseng is given in the present article. This may be useful in discovering potential therapeutic effects & developing new formulations.
A stability indicating HPLC method was developed and for the estimation of Sarecycline Hydrochloride in tablet dosage form using C18 column with a mobile phase composition of 0.1M Na2PO4 and Acetonitrile in the ratio of 50:50 v/v . The detection wave maxima and retention time were found to 242nm and 3.876min respectively. The method validation was carried out according to International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) guidelines and the parameters namely; precision, accuracy, specificity, stability, robustness, linearity, limit of quantitation (LOQ) and limit of detection (LOD) are evaluated. The present developed RP-HPLC method shows the purity angle of peaks is less than their threshold angle, signifying that it to be suitable for stability studies. Hence, the developed method can be used for the successful estimation of Sarecycline in the pharmaceutical dosage formulations.
This article describes herbal remedies and herbal products for alopecia. It mainly states the use of herbal preparations for the treatment of hair loss and also describes their advantages over synthetic products and drugs. As the use of herbal blends have least side effects, maximum efficacy, and are economically and easily prevalent, they can act as naturopathic medicines in treating various types of hair loss. Hair loss can be due to different reasons such as genetic tendency, extreme stress, nutritional deficiency, environmental triggers, exposure to chemicals etc. Hence use of synthetic compounds can show unfavorable outcomes such as scaling, dermatitis, pruritus and other skin related problems and to overcome such effects herbal products which are made by extraction of natural compounds mainly herbs are preferred as they play a role in patient compliance and show more than one mode of action for the treatment of alopecia. The article basically gives the description of various herbal products, remedies and also herbal products with nutrient supplements available with their brand name, manufacturing details along with their cost, indications which can be beneficial to treat hair loss.
Long QT syndrome (LQTS) occurs when there is an abnormality of myocardial repolarization characterized specifically by a prolonged QT interval on an electrocardiogram (ECG). This can be particularly dangerous as it is associated with an increased risk of polymorphic ventricular tachycardia and a life-threatening arrhythmia otherwise known as torsades de pointes (TdP). We present a case of a 40-year-old Indian female whose medical history was significant only for anemia and depression/anxiety that presented in a ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest after becoming dyspneic and light-headed while dancing. Of relevance, she was taking sertraline 50mg once daily, a class of medications known to prolong the QT interval as well as having low serum calcium on presentation. Both her initial and subsequent electrocardiograms illuminated significantly prolonged QTc intervals. She subsequently sustained a ventricular tachycardia cardiac arrest, which degenerated into ventricular fibrillation in the cardiac intensive care unit two days later. Ultimately, the patient was pronounced brain-dead by the end of the week. We concluded this to be a case of LQTS predisposing to TdP, which then would degenerate into ventricular fibrillation. This case highlights multiple risk factors that are known to predispose to the aforementioned etiology. Further research is needed not only on common medications and their dose-dependent relationship on the QT interval across different ethnic groups but also on educating providers regarding multiple risk factors they may or may not have the power to control.
