A survey was carried out in two villages of Durgapur union under Kapasia upazila of Gazipur district during January to March, 2005 to investigate profitability, problems and management system of practicing jackfruit-pineapple agroforestry practice. Result revealed that the existing jackfruit-pineapple agroforesty system is profitable and has a great contribution to the meet up of nutritional demand. There is a scope of adopting improved management practices and it may increase the total production. Among the various problems, jackfruit trunk borer is the major. Measures against insects, bat, hedgehog, squirrel etc., use of popular cultivar and training on improved management practices for development of jackfruit-pineapple agroforestry system were suggested to overcome these problems. during the Rabi Season 2013-14 to study the effects of different planting dates and mechanical support for the management of insect pests in tomato. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications consisted of nine treatments. Significant variations were found among the treatment. At early fruiting stage of tomato in number and weight basis, the highest percentage of infested fruit (10.65% and 10.99%) was recorded in T7 treatment, while the lowest (2.67% and 4.35%) in T5 treatment. At mid fruiting stage of tomato in number and weight basis, the highest percentage of infested fruit (11.92% and 12.62%) was recorded in T7 treatment, while the lowest (3.13% and 4.50%) in T5 treatment. At late fruiting stage of tomato in number and weight basis, the highest percentage of infested fruit (10.15% and 10.66%) was recorded in T7 treatment, whereas the lowest (2.22% and 4.21%) in T5 treatment. At total fruiting stage of tomato in number and weight basis, the highest percentage of infested fruit (10.93% and 11.43%) was recorded in T7 treatment, whereas the lowest (2.66% and 4.35%) in T5 treatment. The highest fruit yield (55.91 t ha-1) was recorded in T5, whereas the lowest yield (45.39 t ha-1) in T7 treatment. Planting at 10 December with the method of Horizontal mechanical support was more effective for reduction of insect pest of tomato and also for highest yield.
The experiment was conducted at the BINA sub-station, Rahmatpur, Barishal, during the period from April 2020 to August 2020 to investigate the effect of nitrogen on the yield of transplant Aus rice cv. Binadhan-19. The experiment comprised four levels of nitrogen viz (a) N0 (zero nitrogen), (b) N1 (90 kg N/ha), (c) N2 (110 kg N/ha) and (d) N3 (130 kg N/ha). Nitrogen fertilizer was applied at two splits. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Results revealed that plant height, effective tiller, non-effective tiller, flag leaf length, filled gran, unfilled grain and 1000 grain weight were increased with increasing nitrogen doses till 110 kg N ha-1. Furthermore, the highest grain weight was recorded in 110 kg N ha-1 due to superior performance of yield contributing characters of BInadhan-19. A positive correlation was found between grain yield and total dry matter production. The experimental results concluded that 110 kg N ha-1 would be the best dose for higher gain yield in Binadhan-19 in aus season.
