This article is devoted to the peculiarities of the culinary recipes translation using the recipes of Jamie Oliver’s. Gastronomic discourse is a reflection of the fundamental physiological need of a person, while language serves to realize the national-specific characteristics of the people. Within this article, methods of transferring culinary recipes from English into Russian are considered, as well as the translation transformations that the translator uses when translating. Considerable attention is paid to specific examples and identification of their translation specifics.
The article covers the issue of rendering proper names in translation of literary works. The issue requires complex coverage concerning lingvocultural features of a proper names along with its functions being performed in a literary work. Moreover, the translation of proper names involves not a single translation strategy. The existing methods of proper names rendering to be applied are usually combined with others. The material for the study were the proper names determined in the novel The Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and its translation into Russian. The study describes the most used methods to translate proper names revealed in novel’s translation from English into Russian concerning their structural, semantic and cultural characteristics.
