In the modern world, which is often called a society of postmodern, a new form of worldview and lifestyle gathers force, which can be conventionally called mobility. Mobility implies unattachment of a human being to a place of residence, a place of work, permanent human environment. In the paper, mobility is considered as a constituent of a life strategy, allowing one, according to individual representations of testees, to achieve personal security more effectively, in contrast to settled lifestyle, implying greater vulnerability. The results of the research, conducted based on the youth sampling, are presented. The objective of the research was the study of mobility as a social phenomenon of postmodern society and determination of its individual-psychological determinants from the position of personality security psychology. The following was used as research techniques: a questionnaire, the method of studying value types by M.S. Yasnitskiy, the author's method of studying strategies of providing personal security, the method of depth interview with subsequent meaningful and content analysis of data. Obtained results indicate high popularity of mobility as a preferable reference point in alignment of a life strategy of providing personal security. Strategic preferences are analysed in the context of value types and other psychological and social characteristics. A conclusion on the increase of "mobility tendencies" among postmodern youth is made, and unattachment, bordering with impermanence, becomes a part of "postmodern self".
The article presents the results of studies on the relationship of formation of security concepts and individual psychological characteristics, such as intelligence, character traits, internality of person, value-semantic sphere of the person described as psychological factors of representations. The subjects were students of Military Institute of the Russian Federation of the National Guard troops, whose training involves the formation of military-professional competences directly related to security. Representations about security are considered as a complex semantic construct in the minds of students, is one of the basic elements of professional representations system. According to the results of statistical data, we found significant correlations between the characteristics of security concepts and the level of intelligence, lack of cusps of character traits, a meaningful life, internality personality, maturity of the system of value orientations. It is suggested that security representations is a complex construct in the mind, which is closely integrated in the individual relations, emerging in connection with the development of the whole person. It is concluded that the educational process should be improved in respect of the formation of the security concepts in military education.
The study made an attempt to approach the problem of identity threats from the perspective of modern security psychology, which studies psychological attitude to personal security as a systemic phenomenon. Threats to one’s personal security in the subject's view were analyzed in terms of threats to one’s identity. The representative sample (n=50, age=22) underwent a correlation analysis to identify the relationships between the assessments of individual threats to personal security and elements of identity, i.e. subjective evaluations of positive and negative personal qualities. Negative elements of identity appeared to be the most vulnerable, e.g. "depressed". The same was true for positive elements that are more dependent on external conditions and assessments, e.g. "happy", "generous", etc. As for self-reliant and assessments, e.g. "hardworking", "disciplined", they proved more secured. The subject’s perceptions of oneself and one’s security threats were in complex mutual determinations. Threats to personal security became threats to identity if implementation of these threats led to a deterioration in the subject's self-image.
