Synthesis and Reactivity of 3-Oxazolines3-Oxazolines 1 have been prepared from a-hydroxy aldehydes, ammonia, water and a second 0x0 compound (aldehyde or ketone) in a one-pot reaction. Carboxylic acid chlorides add to the azomethine bond of 1 to yield 3-acyl-4-chlorooxazolidines 2. 4-Hydroxy and 4-alkoxyoxazolidines 3 are obtained from 2 upon treatment with aqueons sodium hydroxide or alkanol/ triethyl amine, respectively. Some oxazolidines 3 are formed with high diastereoseselectivity.

This case study describes the use of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and legal interventions for a 16-year-old girl who was the victim of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) and suffered from substance abuse, anxiety, and body image issues. Over the course of 1 year, the client was able to discontinue involvement in sexual exploitation, cease substance use, decrease her anxiety level, improve her self-concept, and reduce posttrauma symptoms. The case calls attention to the need for extended rapport building, flexibility in treatment, and tailoring manualized treatments. It highlights the path to CSE for one teenager as well as the resultant emotional and behavioral consequences. Given the extensive nature of her past traumas, case management was continued following the clients' discharge from treatment to support her adjustment. These follow-up sessions were conducted about once a month and assisted with maintenance of treatment goals.

While there has been a plethora of research in higher education concerning how instructors communicate directly with students in their classes, there has been a paucity of work regarding the subject of the present study, which is how do - and how should - universities most effectively communicate with current students bout non-instructional information and news. The present study took place at a publicly-funded, regional state university in the Southeast United States and incorporated an extensive email sampling of students. The findings showed that today’s largely Gen Z students have important communication preferences that need to be taken into consideration by university leaders as they consider how to best communicate non-instructional messages to them. The study has important implications for university leaders to consider as to how to most effectively make use of text and email, as well as social media platforms, in their communications strategy for non-instructional matters and university news.
