This article was aimed to describe text transitivity of Mathew, New Testament of Kupang Malay language called Janji Baru. Data were taken from the Bible, New Testament, especially in Mathew Gospel which consisted of 29 sections/chapters. All data were analyzed qualitatively and the analysis was based on systemic functional linguistic theory focused on transitivity system. The result showed that transitivity in texts consisted of three elements. (1) Participants were realized by nominal group, including personal pronouns that consisted of: listener only that was realized by lu ‘you’; speaker + listener: ‘katong, ’we’; speaker only: beta ’I’; speaker + others: botong ‘we’; listener + others: ’bosong ‘you’; others: ‘dong’ ‘they’; someone/ something, conscious/non- conscious: ‘dia’ ‘he/she.it’; general: orang dong ‘people’. (2) Circumstances that were realized by time, location, reason, cause and manner, such as, sakarang ‘now’, ‘nanti’ next time’, ‘beso lusa’ ‘tomorrow;; locations, kampong ’village’., ‘dano ‘lake, sabla ‘beside’ ; tagal ‘because’,etc (3) Processes that was realized by verb groups containing six types: material process as pi datang ‘go’ pi ambil ‘take’, `lempar buang ‘throw’, potong buang ‘cut’, jalan pikol bawa ‘carry’; verbal as, kasi tau ‘tell’, angka janji ‘promise’ ; ’relational as jadi ‘become’; existence as ada exist; mental as tau ‘know’, and behavioural as maruak ame, ‘get angry’, lia pi ‘see or watch’, parcaya ame ‘believe’. Almost all process excepted existence and relational combined two or three verbs for one meaning. This fact indicates to let readers or listeners understand the message.
The goal of this study is to undertake a multimodal analysis of a print advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy S5. According to Cheong (2004), the general structure of print advertisements is as follows: Capture^Focus^Justification. This structure encompasses both the verbal and visual aspects of advertising. The goal of this study is to describe the structure of multimodal analysis observed in a print advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy S5. To achieve the research's goal, descriptive qualitative research was used. The information, which is a print advertisement, was gathered via Google image results. As a result, some data analysis procedures include searching for and printing the Samsung Galaxy S5 print advertisement from a google image result, reading the text and attempting to analyze the advertisement, classifying and analyzing the data (advertisement) according to the verbal and visual components as presented by Cheong (2004), and finally drawing a conclusion. Finally, the researchers discovered that the structure of verbal (Announcement, Enhancer, Emblem, Tag, Cal-and-visit information) and visual (Lead, Display, and Emblem) components are included in the advertisement.
An Application of Compositional Metafunctions in Improving Children's Ability to Learn English Through Images. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to access the application of compositional metafunctions in improving children's ability in learning English through images. Methods: The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature review using sources from the internet, books, and related research outputs. Findings: The results of this study found that using images in the application of compositional metafunction in learning English to improve children's abilities has a great influence, in terms of ease of learning and ease of observation. Conclusion: Based on the results presented, this study gives a new horizon that children can easily remember words in English through pictures and make motor comparisons in everyday life with the concept of cognitive development in improving memory for learning English.
Salah satu program pengembangan yang sangat penting dalam pendidikan anak usia dini adalah pengembangan bahasa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan kegiatan literasi denngan menggunakan Kegiatan Literasi Berbasis Teks Multimodal untuk anak usia dini di salah satu sekolah TK di Pematangsiantar. Metode deskriptif kualitatif diterapkan dalam penelitian ini. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah anak usia dini sebanyak 26 siswa. Observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi digunakan untuk memperoleh data. Triangulasi teknik dan triangulasi sumber digunakan dalam analisis data. Proses interpretasi data yang terkumpul menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini mengalami peningkatan kenyamanan lingkungan belajar peserta didik dengan persentase peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 15,8% sehingga kegiatan literasi berbasis multimodal ini layak untuk dikembangkan dan dilaksanakan pada anak usia dini. Para peneliti juga menyarankan agar pihak sekolah memahami pentingnya membangun lingkungan literasi yang baik di dalam kelas dalam mendukung penerapan literasi berbasis multimodal untuk perkembangan kemampuan literasi anak
