This paper discusses scenarios that occur in the delivery of the National Education Program, focusing the debate on the Special Education teacher professionalism especially teachers of Islamic Studies (IET). The objective of this study is to propose solutions to issues and challenges of the teaching profession by presenting a model of Special Education teacher as Murabbi. The term Murabbi is selected in this model as opposed to Mursyid, Mu'allim, Muaddib, and Mudarris, because Murabbi encompasses the concept of love which is very close to special children as applied in this element. The findings of this study have resulted a model teacher as Murabbi particularly in the context of special education. There are eight characteristics of effective teachers as Murabbi contribute towards upholding the special education system of the country.
Bloom’s Taxonomy known as a hierarchical framework of learning objective that is used by teachers to measure students’ higher order thinking skills based on questions in learning. There are three domain on Bloom taxonomy which is cognitive (intellectual skill), affective (generic skill) and psychomotor (practical skill). The cognitive domain of Bloom consists of six level organized in a hierarchy from lower until higher level which includes remembering, understanding, application, analysis, evaluation and creating. Since it is introduce by Benjamin Bloom in year 1956, studies have shown there are numerous Western studies have been discusess the strengths and weaknesses of Bloom Taxonomy. However, what is the position of Bloom's Taxonomy according to the Islamic perspectives? Therefore, this paper will concentrate on the criticisms by Western and Islamic perspective against Bloom’s Taxonomy. This study will be conducted using qualitative method by analysing data with descriptive method. The findings show there are criticisms and improvements in the past studies that focus on Bloom's taxonomy into four themes: (1) hierarchical structure, (2) classification structure, (3) uses and (4) new taxonomy requirements to fit the new skills required by the 21st century learning. Indeed, this article can provides a catalyst for further exploration of Islamic influence in education. Abstrak Taksonomi Bloom merupakan objektif pendidikan yang digunakan oleh pendidik untuk mengukur dan meningkatkan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi pelajar dalam pembelajaran. Terdapat tiga domain utama yang perlu dicapai iaitu kognitif (kemahiran intelektual), afektif (kemahiran generik) dan psikomotor (kemahiran praktikal teknikal). Malahan, domain ini diklasifikasikan mengikut enam aras berbentuk piramid yang disusun dari aras rendah hingga ke aras tinggi. Ia merangkumi aras pengetahuan, pemahaman, aplikasi, analisis, sintesis dan penilaian. Sejak ia diperkenalkan oleh Benjamin Bloom pada tahun 1956, terdapat pelbagai kajian Barat yang membincangkan tentang kekuatan dan kelemahan Taksonomi Bloom. Namun, bagaimana pula kedudukan Taksonomi Bloom menurut perspektif Islam? Oleh itu, artikel ini membincangkan kritikan Barat dan pandangan Islam terhadap taksonomi Bloom. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif di mana data akan dianalisis melalui kaedah deskriptif. Hasil kajian mendapati terdapat kritikan dan penambaikan dari kajian lepas yang menfokuskan taksonomi Bloom kepada empat tema: (1) susunan hierarki, (2) pengelasan struktur, (3) kegunaan dan (4) keperluan kepada taksonomi yang baru sesuai dengan arus pembelajaran abad ke 21. Kajian ini juga dilihat sebagai pemangkin awal bagi meluaskan bidang pengukuran Islam dalam sistem pendidikan di Malaysia.
Teaching and learning al-Quran for visually impaired people (OKU) is not something that can be taken lightly. Therefore, this paper will discuss about Iqra’ Braille 1 that has been transcribed by a few researchers from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. This study was conducted using qualitative approach by analyzing Iqra’ Braille 1 in term of the contents, guidelines, activities as well as the performances. The objectives of this study are: i) to identify the suitability of Iqra’ Braille 1 as the foundation in teaching al-Quran for visually impaired people, ii) to identify the suitability of guidelines and activities in Iqra’ Braille 1 as the foundation in teaching al-Quran for visually impaired people, and iii) to analyze the compatibility of presentations of Iqra’ Braille 1 for visually impaired people. The study found that the content, guidelines, activities and presentations of Iqra’ Braille 1 are suitable as the foundation in teaching al-Quran for visually impaired people, but there’s some improvement must be made to adjust the usability and compatibility of Iqra’ Braille 1 with the ability of visually impaired people. Future researchers are suggested to study about the ability and the time taken by visually impaired people in completing the syllabus of Iqra’ Braille 1. ABSTRAK Pengajaran dan pembelajaran al-Quran bagi golongan Orang Kelainan Upaya (OKU) penglihatan bukanlah satu perkara yang boleh dipandang enteng. Justeru, kertas kerja ini akan membahaskan mengenai Iqra’ Braille yang telah ditranskripsikan oleh beberapa penyelidik dari Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. Kajian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kaedah kualitatif dengan menganalisa buku Iqra’ Braille 1 dari aspek isi kandungan, panduan dan aktiviti serta persembahan. Objektif kajian ini adalah 1) mengenalpasti kesesuaian isi kandungan Iqra’ Braille 1 sebagai pengenalan asas al-Quran kepada golongan OKU penglihatan, 2) mengenalpasti kesesuaian panduan dan aktiviti yang terdapat dalam Iqra’ Braille 1 sebagai pengenalan asas al-Quran kepada golongan OKU penglihatan, dan 3) mengkaji kesesuaian persembahan Iqra’ Braille 1 bagi golongan OKU penglihatan. Secara keseluruhan, hasil kajian menunjukkan Iqra’ Braille 1 sesuai digunakan sebagai permulaan pengajaran al-Quran bagi OKU penglihatan dari sudut isi kandungan, panduan dan aktiviti serta persembahan. Iqra’ Braille 1 juga sangat membantu OKU penglihatan dalam mempelajari al-Quran. Namun begitu terdapat beberapa penambahbaikan yang harus dilakukan bagi menyesuaikan penggunaan Iqra’ Braille 1 dengan keupayaan golongan OKU penglihatan. Para penyelidik masa hadapan dicadangkan untuk mengkaji sudut kemampuan dan tempoh yang diambil oleh pelajar golongan OKU penglihatan dalam menghabiskan silibus pembelajaran Iqra’ Braille 1.
The sign language is the main language used in the teaching and learning approach (TnL) of solat (prayer) for deaf people. However, there have been sign language confusions in terms of form and the true meaning of the term. This is because the signs are developed based on the custom and understanding of the deaf. Hence, this study evaluates new sign language developed to ensure the TnL process of solat (prayer) for the deaf can be carried out more effectively. This study utilises Cohen Kappa for analysis of the evaluation of five experts from the field of religion and six from the field of sign language. In addition, a qualitative approach through group interviews is also conducted to enrich the findings. Based on the findings of the study, this evaluation has achieved the Cohen Kappa Coefficient Index at 0.87 level, which is at an excellent scale level for the whole new sign language developed. In terms of implication, this evaluation can provide a sign language parallel to the religious meaning and understanding of the deaf in Malaysia in TnL of solat. Keywords: Evaluation; Sign language; Teaching and learning; Prayers; Deaf Abstrak Bahasa isyarat merupakan bahasa utama yang digunakan dalam pendekatan pengajaran dan pembelajaran (PdP) solat bagi orang pekak. Walaubagaimanapun, terdapat bahasa isyarat yang mempunyai kekeliruan dari segi bentuk dan makna sebenar istilah tersebut kerana dibangunkan berdasarkan cara hidup dan kefahaman orang pekak. Justeru, kajian ini menilai bahasa isyarat baharu yang dibangunkan untuk memastikan proses (PdP) solat bagi orang pekak dapat dijalankan dengan lebih berkesan. Kajian ini mengunakan Cohen Kappa untuk analisis penilaian kesepakatan lima orang pakar daripada bidang agama dan enam orang daripada bidang bahasa isyarat. Selain daripada itu, pendekatan kualitatif melalui temu bual berkumpulan juga turut dijalankan bagi memperkayakan dapatan kajian. Berdasarkan dapatan kajian, penilaian ini telah mencapai Indeks pekali Cohen Kappa pada tahap 0.87, iaitu pada tahap skala sangat baik bagi keseluruhan bahasa isyarat baharu yang dibangunkan. Implikasinya, penilaian ini dapat menyediakan bahasa isyarat yang selari dengan makna agama dan kefahaman orang pekak di Malaysia dalam (PdP) solat.
الزهد في الدنيا سمة من سمات الصالحين. ومن المعروف أن المصادر والمراجع لقضية الزهد هي كتب التصوف، لا الأخرى؛ لأنه من قضاياه. ومن خلال هذا البحث، آمل يعرف الزهد من المصدر الآخر ألا وهو تفسير القرآن العظيم. ومن هؤلاء الذين يتكلمون في هذه القضية ابن عجيبة في تفسيره الصوفي الإشاري القرآني البحر المديد. لذلك، يهدف هذا البحث إلى تحديد أفكار ابن عجيبة في توضيح قضية الزهد في تفسيره الصوفي الإشاري البحر المديد. وقد تكلم ابن عجيبة حول الزهد من الأعمال القلبية، وتفضيل الفقر على الغنى، والزهد سيف في قتل النفس. وأما منهج البحث، فيعتمد على الدراسة الكيفية حيث سيتم استخدام طريقة تحليل المحتوى المقارن. ومن النتائج الرئيسية لهذه الدراسة أن ابن عجيبة في تفسيره الإشاري البحر المديد قد تكلم عن الزهد وبعض رأيه يخالفه بعض الصوفية والأئمة. وهذا الاختلاف لا ينقص إجلالنا له ووثوقنا به من الناحية العلمية والدينية. Asceticism in worldly matters is the characteristics of a pious and one of the degrees of those who draw near to Allah SWT. It is a foundation towards the pleasure of Allah and the initial beginning for those who lead to Him. As already know, the source of reference towards the issue of asceticism is the books of Sufism as it is one of the issues in the field of Sufism. The researcher intends to introduce asceticism in this article through another source of reference which is the interpretation of al-Quran al-Karim. Ibn Ajibah is one of the scholars who spoke on this issue by his writing in Tafsir Quran Ishari Al-Bahrul Madid. Thus, the objective of this study is to identify the thoughts of Ibn Ajibah in explaining the issue of asceticism through Tafsir Quran Ishari Al-Bahrul Madid. This study will be used a qualitative approach as a methodology through the method of inductive text analysis. One of the main findings of this study is that Ibn Ajibah through his interpretation has explained about asceticism clearly and vividly in terms of the practice of soul, the preference of the poor over the rich, and also killing lust. However, there are different thoughts between Ibn Ajibah and other Sufi scholars in this matter. Despite that, the difference does not least diminish our respect for him and our belief towards his knowledge and religion.
