The application of technology in the educational process is a challenge for the next generation to face the revolution in the development of learning and technology. One of the applications is based on e-Learning through edmodo. The application of technology is also expected to be in harmony with the growth of the character of the nation, especially the character of students. The research objective is to find out the improvement of character education strengthening through edmodo-based e-learning learning. The research method is action research. The results of this study have increased the value of honest character, discipline character and responsibility character from cycle I and cycle II. It can be concluded that the Edmodo application can be used as a learning medium for e-learning.
The main problem faced by EFL students in writing English texts includes the difficulties to produce a cohesive and coherent text that it seems necessary to show how the tools of Theme and Rheme can be used to help construct the students' good English writing. This study aimed to find out the types of thematic progression patterns in each clause of the recount texts written by students and the dominant pattern of thematic progression revealed from the texts. The research design of this study is a qualitative method which employed the study instrument of the students' recount texts at class IX of SMAN 2 Langsa, Aceh. A content analysis approach by using a Theme and Rheme framework generated from a theory of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) was used to analyze the thematic progression patterns on the students' recount texts, which included several steps: reading the student's texts, identifying the theme and rheme of every clause of the student's text, describing the thematic progression patterns of student's text and drawing the thematic progression pattern on student's text. The findings of the analysis indicated that there are three (3) thematic progression patterns found on the students' recount texts: the Theme Constant, the Theme Zig Zag Linear pattern and Theme Multiple patterns. The dominant type of thematic progression patterns constructed by the students into their recount texts was revealed mostly on 123 constant or reiteration patterns (76.8%), followed by zig-zag patterns of 35 times (21.8%) and 9 times (1.25%) of multiple patterns. The results of this study will be facilitative as the tools for English language teaching and learning classrooms particularly for writing English texts.
Aceh Tamiang Regency is one of the districts in Aceh Province that was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The data shows that there are residents of Aceh Tamiang Regency who have been positively infected with this virus. Therefore, one way to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is by washing your hands using running water and soap. The purpose of this activity is to provide outreach to PKK members in Matang Teupah Village, Aceh Tamiang to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Activities carried out by providing training in making liquid hand washing soap for the community, especially members of the PKK Bina Mufakat. It is hoped that from this activity, members of the PKK Bina Mufakata Matang Teupah Village can become village representatives to socialize ways to prevent the spread of Covid-19 to the surrounding community. This activity is also expected to be able to create business opportunities for PKK members and the community. Activities are carried out in 6 (six) stages which include (1) Survey; (2) Identification of potential beneficiaries; (3) Soap Making Test and Organoleptic Test (4) Socialization; (5) Soap Making skills training; (6) Monitoring and Evaluation. This hand-washing soap making training has improved the skills of the community, especially participants in activities amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of the evaluation and monitoring show that members of the PKK Bina Mufakat have contributed to socializing healthy living by diligently washing their hands with soap as an effort to prevent Covid-19 from themselves, their families, and the community.Keywords: Training, Liquid Hand Soap, Covid-19ABSTRAKKabupaten Aceh Tamiang merupakan salah satu kabupaten yang berada di Provinsi Aceh yang terkena dampak wabah Covid-19. Data menunjukan bahwa ada warga Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang yang telah positif terinfeksi virus ini. Maka dari itu, salah satu yaitu dengan mencuci tangan menggunakan air mengalir dan sabun. Tujuan kegiatan ini yaitu memberikan sosialisasi kepada ibu-ibu PKK yang di Desa Matang Teupah Kecamatan Bendahara Aceh Tamiang untuk mencegah penyebaran Covid-19. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan pembuatan sabun cuci tangan cair bagi masyarakat khususnya Ibu-ibu PKK Bina Mufakat. Diharapkan dari kegiatan ini, Ibu-Ibu PKK Bina Mufakata Desa Matang Teupah dapat menjadi perwakilan desa untuk mensosialisasikan cara pencegahan penyebaran Covid-19 ke masyarakat sekitar. Kegiatan ini juga diharapkan mampu menciptakan peluang usaha bagi anggota ibu-ibu PKK maupun masyarakat. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui 6 (enam) tahapan yang meliputi (1) Survey; (2) Identifikasi calon penerima manfaat; (3) Uji Pembuatan Sabun dan Uji Organoleptik (4) Sosialisasi; (5)Pelatihan keterampilan Pembuatan Sabun; (6) Monotoring dan Evaluasi. This research aims to develop an authentic assessment instrument product based on language literacy with a scaffolding model that is oriented towards reading skills. This research method uses research and development methods. The research results show that the preliminary research phase describes the results of curriculum analysis and student analysis. At the product development stage and validation by experts, the percentage of authenticity instrument eligibility consisting of three indicators is 82%. It can be concluded that the instrument is suitable for use in learning activities. The practicality stage given to 20 students in one of the Manyak Payed Public High Schools, Aceh Tamiang District, consisted of four alternative answers, 25% were declared practical. Thus, high school teachers are advised to use the scaffolding model as a solution to improve reading comprehension and language literacy skills.
The teaching materials used are English teaching materials which contain local learning concepts that increase the discussion of how to read English correctly in pronouncing words in accordance with grammar. Therefore, English teaching materials are very useful for students to master reading literacy skills. English is also part of the international language contained in the subjects applied in schools. In this case, students are required to have English teaching materials as a guide in mastering English knowledge and are also able to compete nationally and internationally. Thus, the purpose of this study was born, namely to determine the analysis of the need for the development of locally based English teaching materials to improve reading literacy. This research uses a design research development method that takes the form of a type of study validation. The basis of the use of this type of method proves from the theory of learning at the stage of needs analysis. The results of the study show that the usefulness of local learning teaching materials can increase students' reading literacy more independently. Local learning teaching materials can make it easier for teachers to be used as a source of learning media. The conclusion of this study is that local learning teaching materials can be implemented for learning activities and English language learning is more practical and easy to understand .
