This research aimed to identify the effect of POGIL model on the students’ mathematical problem-solving ability. The variables involved in this research were mathematical problem-solving abilities as an independent variable, and the POGIL model as a dependent variable. Based on the observations of researchers through interviews with mathematics subject teachers and students at Junior High School 2 Kalibagor, showed that the mathematical learning process that took place was still dominated by learning that did not involve the active role of students. The learning used is still teacher-centered and limited to information transfer, especially in the form of theoretical and mathematical equations. The population of this study was the students at seventh grade in Junior High School 2 Kalibagor, even semester in the school year 2017/2018 consist of 8 classes and amounted to 219 students. Sampling was done randomly, selected as an experimental class is 66.91 with 30 students and 55.91 as control class with 30 students. This test was validated by two mathematicians, then it was tested to a group of seventh-grade students to fulfill the validity and reliability criteria. The data were analyzed by using t-test after conducting a series of normality and homogeneity tests. It was concluded that t-test for equality of means was used for hypothesis testing that shows a significant value = 0.000 less than alpha 0.05. So that H0 is rejected, it means that students’ mathematical problem-solving ability taught by using POGIL model is better than students’ mathematical problem-solving ability taught by conventional learning. In other words, POGIL model influences or effects on students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities.
Saat ini UMP telah memiliki 11 Fakultas dan 33 Program Studi. Jumlah mahasiswa UMPmeningkat setiap tahunnya.
Statistics learning is one of the compulsory lessons learned at the Mathematics Education Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto for undergraduate students. This study aims to produce statistical teaching materials for mathematics education research, especially for Inferential Statistics that are suitable for use in lectures. The research method used is the method of research and development. The teaching materials development model used in this study uses steps adapted from ADDIE research and development model, which consists of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. The results of the evaluation were obtained from suggestions from lecturers and students during the trial, so that from this evaluation stage a final revision was carried out. Valid, the results of the validation of material experts with an average of 3.26 are in the very valid category, because 3 ≤ M ≤ 4, so the material in the media is said to be very valid, while the results of the validation of media experts with an average of 3.18 are in the very valid category, because 3 ≤ M ≤ 4, so this teaching materials is said to be very valid. Effective, this is said to be effective because the teaching materials is rated by students with an average percentage of positive responses of 83.27%. Practical, it is said to be practical because the percentage of teaching materials implementation is 80.43%.
This research aims to improve spatial skills of students on the subjects of 3-dimensional geometry with Learning Cycle Model using application Cabri 3D in Junior High School Muhammadiyah Ajibarang. This research is Classroom Action Research that implemented in the 3 cycles where each cycle consists of 2 hours of the first meeting to deliver material, 2 hours at the second meeting to convey material and then the last one hour to test evaluation. The subject of this research is 32 students of seven-grade junior high school Muhammadiyah Ajibarang. Each cycle in this research starting from the action planning, implementation of the action, observation, evaluation, and reflection. The technique of data collection that researchers have already done is observation and tests of spatial skills of mathematics students. Based on the results of research, the spatial skills of students at the first cycle obtained the average score of 67.50, the second cycle obtained the average score of 79.06 and third cycle obtained the average score of 85.00. The conclusions from this study are learning using Learning Cycle Model using application Cabri 3D can improve the spatial skills students of seven-grade junior high school Muhammadiyah Ajibarang particularly on the subjects of 3-dimensional geometry than shown by increasing of average score student's spatial skills tests every cycle.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
