This study aims to accomplish three objectives: (a) to reveal the reasons why women academics prefer tourism academia; (b) to examine the experiences and perceptions of gender (in)equality of women academics; (c) to determine the cultural, social and family‐based variables affecting the careers of women academics. The study is based on three steps by the application of triangulation method including interviews and focus groups. Study findings suggest that the academia is an attractive environment for women to escape from the industry despite the former brings several problems in taking steps for maintaining their career‐based responsibilities.
In the global era, the concerns of people on healthy food consumption is growing. Some people are approaching skeptically about the effects of food additives on the human body. The extent of awareness and knowledge of people on food additives can be an important indicator of their food choices. This study aims to explore to what extent young people are aware of the food additives listed on food labels and to reveal their perceptions of the effects of food additives on the body. The results of this research show that the participants who are the members of the millennial generation can identify what food additives exist in the food labels, but they have no idea regarding what the additive is used for nor do they have adequate information about the effects of the additives on the human body.
Turizm endüstrisinin teknolojiyi yönetebilen ve karar verme sürecinde kullanabilen, nitelikli insan kaynağı ihtiyacı günden güne artmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye'de turizm işletmeciliği lisans programlarının müfredatlarında yer alan teknoloji derslerini belirlemektir. Çalışmada 38 turizm işletmeciliği programının müfredatında yer alan 163 ders belirlenmiş ve içerikleri analiz edilmiştir. Dersler, otomasyon sistemleri, bilgi teknolojileri, elektronik disiplinler ve yönetim bilişim sistemleri şeklinde sınıflandırılmıştır. Bulgular üzerine akademisyenler ile görüşmeler yapılmış ve içerik analizi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Görüşmelerin bulguları, teknoloji derslerinin çeşidi, sayısı ve niteliği üzerinde etkili olan kısıtları, programlara dair beklentileri ve önerileri göstermektedir. Bu çalışma, müfredat planlama sürecine ve nitelikli insan kaynağı yetiştirme çalışmalarına katkı sağlamaktadır.
