Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e exploratório, com o objetivo de apreender, por meio de entrevista, a experiência da criança e do adolescente com doença crônica, tal como ela é vivenciada por eles. Os resultados revelam que as crianças e os adolescentes têm seu cotidiano modificado pelas freqüentes hospitalizações, pelos limites ditados pela doença e tratamento, ocasionando mudanças, especialmente no processo de escolarização. Considerando que a criança e o adolescente vivenciam sentimentos e situações complexas, no cotidiano da doença crônica, é importante que os profissionais de saúde conheçam essas demandas e as incorporem ao plano de cuidados, visando a uma intervenção efetiva, para a promoção do crescimento e desenvolvimento.
The article presents results of the research that identified to causes of disease-related absenteeism, justified by medical license, among nursing employees of a public hospital in Montes Claros, MG, Brazil. This is a descriptive-exploratory study. Results indicate that the main reasons for absenteeism are related to musculoskeletal problems and to respiratory diseases; mainly between married female nurse aides, with age between 25 and 45 years, that works in day shift and with more than one employment. It was concluded that there is a necessity to develop prevention actions for controlling the absenteeism as a strategy for the quality of life of nursing workers.
This study aimed to identify the degree of dependence of institutionalized older adults in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It consists of a cross-sectional descriptive study, developed in three non-profit geriatric long-term care facilities in this municipality. The sample was comprised of 125 older adults and data were collected with the use of the Katz Index. Data were presented by descriptive and bivariate analysis. Independence was observed in 41.6% (n = 52), partial dependence in 15.2% (n = 19) and total dependence in 43.2% (n = 54). The elderly have better ability to perform feeding (86.4%, n = 108) and transferring (67.2%, n = 84) activities. Thus, this study suggests the need for continuous monitoring to prevent functional disability in this population group.
