This present study evaluated nursing education based on problem-solving and learning based on problems originating from alumni's perceptions. This is an ex-post-facto cross-sectional study. Results were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative approaches triangulation and through dialectical hermeneutics. In the quantitative approach 180 alumni answered a questionnaire. The qualitative approach involved 14 interviews that searched for meanings related to the notion of ideal care, in order to build indicators that would reveal this evaluation logic. These indicators guided the choice of triangulation questions. Results demonstrated that 85.1% of alumni are working in the nursing market, 92.1% have taken a post-graduate course and 99.1% believe they have the education required to deliver ethical, humanized and founded care. Data analysis demonstrates a compromised education as autonomy and knowledge are being built, and articulated to the Single Health System and the world nursing principles. DESCRIPTORS:Evaluation. Nursing care. Comprehensiveness. The relaxant response to acetylcholine (ACh) an endothelium dependent vasodilator agent and sodium nitroprusside (SNP), an endothelium independent vasodilator agent, of precontracted isolated aortae and mesenteric arterioles in vivo-in situ were studied in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and normotensive Wistar rats treated with hydralazine in acute (24 h) and chronic (15 d) administration. The impaired responses to ACh observed in SHR vessels were restored by chronic but not by acute treatment, whereas the SNP-induced responses were not affected. It is suggested that: 1) The acute decrease of blood pressure level per se is not sufficient to restore the impaired response to ACh; 2) The alteration of vascular response is not an irreversible phenomenon; 3) Hydralazine did not interfere with the relaxant responses to SNP.
ABSTRACT ABSTRACT ABSTRACT ABSTRACT ABSTRACTThis study aimed at identifying the occurrence of occupational accidents caused by cutting and piercing materials among nursing workers and the conduct adopted by hospitals with respect to accidents. It is a descriptive research carried out by evaluating occupational accidents legally notified in four hospitals in the Northeastern region of São Paulo State in 1999. Data were collected through documental observation. During the studied period, 117 accidents were reported, of which 53 had been caused by cutting and piercing materials. Nursing aids comprised the most frequently affected staff (8.9%¨), followed by technicians (2.8%), auxiliaries (2.7%) and nurses (2.5%). Most of the accidents took place among professionals that had been working for longer than a year and who were females, married or living in concubinage, younger than 40 years old, during the morning shift and were caused by needles and scalpels (84.9%), producing lesions in the fingers (77.3%). The conducts adopted by the hospitals showed lack of guidance and knowledge concerning the adequate procedure to be followed.
