Aim of the present study is to support the multidimensional and hierarchical nature of the Spanish version of Questionnaire for Eudaimonic Wellbeing (QEWB) and to analyze its psychometric properties through the exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) framework. Results of the analyses carried out in a sample of university students (N = 589, 161 males and 428 females), supported the hypothesized bifactor-ESEM solution, composed by a global eudaimonic wellbeing factor and three specific factors (Sense of Purpose, Purposeful Personal Expressiveness and Effortful Engagement). Specifically, the global factor is relatively well defined by most of the 21 items; moreover, two of the specific factors (Purposeful Personal Expressiveness, Effortful Engagement) keep their own meaningful specificity apart from that explained by the global factor, suggesting that they add information to the eudaimonic wellbeing construct. Regarding criterion-related validity of the QEWB, the global factor was positively correlated with self-esteem. Finally, the scale showed adequate levels of composite reliability and measurement invariance over gender. Differences in latent means showed that girls report higher positive Purposeful Personal Expressiveness and Effortful Engagement than boys, whereas no significant differences were found in relation to global eudaimonic wellbeing. Theoretical implications about the nature of eudaimonic wellbeing are considered.
AbstractWHO (2015) states that there is an increase in ageing in the world population, which is further compounded by situations of age discrimination. These negative attitudes constitute entrenched stereotypes that harm not only society but also the elderly themselves. For this reason, all social and health actors need to work under the paradigm of Active Ageing, which advocates an integrated old age in a context of development and social participation. Objectives: To analyse the health self perception, quality of life and psychological welfare of the elderly, as well as to compare whether there are differences in relation to sex, place of residence (urban/rural) and how to perceive retirement. Methodology: Sample: 91 subjects (=74,07 years).Instruments: Health Questionnaire SF (36) and Psychological Welfare Scale (Díaz et al., 2006). Results: The participants show a very satisfactory assessment in their own perception of health and quality of life. In this respect, different trends are observed according to habitat, rural/urban, where the largest resides. On the other hand, there are also differences in the dimensions of psychological welfare according to the sex of the subjects and the way they perceive the fact of retirementKeywords: Autoperception of health; Quality of life; Psychological Well-being; Aging; Active Aging; Oldness

We aim to identify the differences in psychological well-being, resilience, and coping strategies between healthy subjects and HIV patients. The design followed in this work was empirical, not experimental, and cross-sectional with a correlational objective. The sample included a total of 399 participants (199 patients with HIV and 200 without pathology). The instruments applied for data collection were as follows: a questionnaire on socio-demographic data, the Psychological Well-being Scale, the Resilience Scale and the Coping Strategies Questionnaire. The study period was from February 2018 to January 2020. Patients with HIV had a significantly lower score than healthy subjects, in the resilience factors of perseverance and self-confidence. Subjects with HIV scored less in all dimensions of psychological well-being, with the exception of the dimension of autonomy. Finally, it was observed that HIV-positive subjects used rational coping strategies less frequently than healthy subjects, based on social support seeking and problem-solving coping. However, HIV patients scored higher in emotional coping strategies than healthy individuals.
