The complexity of modern systems requires a holistic approach to modeling and simulation during the design phases. This often includes an integrated model of the overall system (architecture, function, and environment) as well as a link-up of computer-aided design tools, because there are many occasions in which there are aspects of the system that cannot be described in one tool. The paper introduces a converter program that bridges the gap between a CAD tool and a system design tool. Nonfunctional information that is relevant for the simulation is extracted from the three-dimensional CAD model and automatically inserted into the behavioral model of the system design tool. The latter is used for performance evaluation and indirect design optimization.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
