This present study gives an estimation of the time and efficiency in the transformation of pine logs into boards for the manufacturing of pallets in the industry, Haro Madera. Here, the percentage of the wood used and the percentage of sawdust were determined. This was with a yield of 34.936% in the processing of the logs, 43.29% into square posts, and 15.08% in the direct transformation of the logs into boards. In order to determine the factors that affect the production of pine lumber, the wood was classified by its length, diameter, and shape where it was possible to determine its influence in the production into boards. This, therefore, proves that the qualitative factors are influential in the elaboration of the boards to construct pallets, in terms of time. Also, it was possible to determine that for the manufacture of an American type pallet, it took 10.24 minutes, while the European type pallet took 13.9 minutes. To determine the output per machine, a sampling was used. Here, specific observations were made, dividing working time and non-working time. Wood utilization percentage was low, the production line must be improved, and the logs from different plantations should be classified according to their diameter and shape.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a chronic disease that primarily affects males and is characterized by progressive physical impairment and, eventually, death. This qualitative study aimed to explore and understand the experience of diagnosis and disease in young people with DMD living in Bogotá, Colombia. After securing approval from the Research Ethics Committee (CEI-ABN026-000311), nine individuals took part of a semi-structured interview, and their narratives were analyzed using thematic analysis. The main topics developed throughout the narratives were: negative representation of the disease; fear; difficulty expressing emotions; the patient-doctor relationship; the wheelchair; the caregivers and coping strategies. We conclude that young people affected by DMD face several challenging experiences that underscore the need for better, more respectful, and compassionate interactions with healthcare providers. Also, their experiences are indicative of a socio-cultural context that needs to become more responsive and compassionate towards young people and disability.
This paper focuses on investigating the levels of learning achievement in mathematics, developed by students of the Ecuadorian school system. The National Institute of Educational Evaluation (NIEE) of the Republic of Ecuador has been considered as a source of information. This institute periodically publishes the results of the evaluations made to the fourth, seventh and tenth students of basic education, as well as to third year students. A descriptive analysis and an ANOVA test of the data of the school periods of study were performed. In the rest of the region, the results are replicated in Ecuador. This, however, shows that a high percentage of students in the Ecuadorian school system had insufficient education and were at elementary level.
In arithmetic with real numbers, it is essential that students hierarchize the operations to reduce arithmetic polynomials. The domain of these operations forms the basis for understanding other mathematical structures that are studied throughout the student's life. Building the practice of this knowledge will facilitate future learning in the area of mathematics. In this research it was proved that the use of an appropriate algorithm to realize operations with real numbers positively affects the learning of the students who enter the Higher Polytechnic School of Chimborazo, Faculty of Natural Resources, Agronomy Career.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
