β-D-fructofuranosidase is one of the most important enzymes of the food industry especially due to its application in preparation of soft centered candies, confectioneries and to produce fructose syrups. Although several bacteria and fi lamentous fungi are reported for its production, yeasts are the most preferred source for this enzyme. In the present study mineral nutrients were screened for their effect on yeast growth and the enzyme production using Plackett-Burman design. Of the 11 nutrients screened, three variables (KH 2 PO 4 , FeCl 3 and CoCl 2 ) were signifi cantly effecting yeast growth while six variables, i.e. KH 2 PO 4 , CaCl 2 , MnSO 4 , Na 2 MoO 4 , ZnSO 4 and CoCl 2 had signifi cant effect on enzyme production.
beta-d-Fructofuranosidase (FFase), an important enzyme of the confectionery and fructose syrup industry, is produced by several microorganisms. However, yeasts are the most used source because of their high sucrose fermentation capacity. In this work, production of FFase was carried out in submerged fermentation using a high enzyme-producing yeast strain. Plackett-Burman statistical experimental design was applied to evaluate the fermentation medium components. The effects of 10 nitrogen sources were studied in a 16-run experimental design. Beef extract, yeast extract, N-Z-amine, tryptone, meat extract, and ammonium acetate were found to have significant effects on enzyme production. Among these, yeast extract, N-Z-amine, and ammonium acetate were the most significant. A maximum FFase activity of 299.4 U/mL was obtained after a 24 h fermentation period.
A person faces several problems due to accident when he is inside vehicle. Many lose their lives in these incidents. Here we will use sensor networks to avoid such incidents. The person who is inside the vehicle will get the security by sensors. The accidents are reduced which are caused due to unreliable problems, by using technologies like wireless communication for sensor networks. The devices which uses mobile communication are used by the owner of the vehicle to connect with positioning system, to get the location of accident. The use of the sensor network is not only limited to providing security but also to check the condition of vehicle in various situations such as leakage of gas or accidents due to fire. The individual va lues from sensors are used to calculate the results which appears on display unit. Apart from providing security and avoiding the accident, this project helps in dealing with alcohol detection and drowsiness of driver.
