This study aims to determine fish's diversity, abundance, and dominance in Ulak Lia Lake, Sekayu District. This research was conducted at Lake Ulak Lia, Sekayu District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, from February to March 2021. The fish sampling method was performed by direct catching at three predetermined observation stations using nets. Netting was carried out for 12 hours, taking catches with traps that have been installed in the morning from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., depending on conditions or weather. Sampling was marked using a bamboo buffer and the help of the Global Positioning System (GPS). The results showed that the Diversity Index ranged from 1.85 to 1.91 indicating low diversity. The fish abundance index ranged from 30.16 to 36.87 indicating low fish abundance. Where the Dominance Index 0.71-0.72 shows a moderate dominance index. Meanwhile, the dominant fish in Ulak Lia Lake is the Sapil fish (Helostoma temminckii).
Fish farming in buckets or more popularly known as BUDIKDAMBER cultivates fish and vegetables in one bucket. In addition to increasing students' understanding of ecosystems, BUDIKDAMBER can also be a solution for teachers and students who have limited land for plant and fish cultivation. This activity aims to provide education and training to teachers and students regarding fish farming techniques currently used to solve small-scale fish farming. The implementation of this activity includes the preparation stage, the material delivery stage, and the experimental stage. Through soft skills training, it can increase knowledge and insight for teachers and students at SMPN 4 Rantau Panjang regarding the BUDIKDAMBER technique so that it is to motivate and attract teachers and students to try at home and pass on the knowledge gained to the surrounding community
During the COVID-19 pandemic, restrictions on activities directly affected people's lives socially and economically to meet their needs of people's lives, namely by developing aquaponic technology with a fish farming system in buckets (Budikdamber). These activities maximise limited land with various crops and develop fisheries so that the results can be used to meet household food needs independently. This service was conducted for local KKN students online through a zoom meeting on September 13, 2021, with 20 participants. The implementation of aquaponics system activities considers the types of fish and vegetables recommended and the procedures for making budikdamber.
Fish handling conditions on the market nowadays mainly in the traditional market is less a principle handling with caution, fast, and clean, making the selling fish polluted with chemical, physical, and microbiological pollutants. The fish handling on the modern market is generally better than the traditional markets. Puncak Permai and Simo Gunung Market provide fresh fish more than any other market in Surabaya, making these markets become the main destination for consumers, therefore this study was conducted to observe the fish freshness in both markets. The purpose of this study was to compare the freshness and observe the handling way of traders situating in both markets. This research used a survey method that was conducted for seven times sampling with three days of interval sampling. This study took three types of marine fish. The main parameters observed were pH and organoleptic values, while the supporting parameters were interviewed data. The result showed that the handling method had a significant effect (p<0.05) on the organoleptic condition of all samples observed, but it had no significant effect (p>0.05) on the pH level.
This study aims to determine the effect of treatment on increasing the brightness of the color of ornamental fish (Betta Sp) during the feeding period and the growth response of toman fish during treatment. The treatment was pumpkin extract (Cucurbita moschetta Durch) mixed into pellet feed with various combinations. The color in fish is determined by connective tissue in the epidermis, which is the availability of pigments from pellets that can be bound and absorbed by the fish’s body. This research was carried out from August to October 2022 in the Laboratorium of Aquaculture. This study is an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) with each treatment as follows, 10ml/100gr,20ml/100gr, and 30ml/100gr feed for 60 days. The results showed that adding pumpkin extract of 30ml/100gr could increase the color brightness of ornamental fish. Based on the results of the variance test, it showed a significant level of significant effect.
