Despite the undeniable contribution of these archaeologists to the research that succeeded their work, could we affirm that there is equity between women and men on the archeology in this region? We have carried out a survey of the bibliography in articles published in the last fifteen years, by Brazilian and foreign authors, in thirteen national and international periodicals. We verified that, despite the high productivity of women in Amazonian Archeology they are not cited in a proportional manner, being noticed a privilege towards men's works. Finally, we question whether the bibliographic selections identified represent in fact the percentage of female and male archaeologists in activity or if they are not a reflection of gender inequity in the archaeological science.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
