This study examined the correlates of aftercare contact in a sample of 220 socially disadvantaged alcoholics who completed inpatient treatment. Findings revealed that persons who felt more confident in their ability to handle mood-related and social pressures to drink were more likely than others to contact aftercare sites. These associations remained significant, adjusting for othcr variables. Two variables, gender and aftercare setting, had independent effects on aftercare contact.
