This article analyses the 2019 European Parliament (EP) election manifestos of populist parties in V4 countries as a contribution to the contemporary discussion on political populism. The aim of the study is to analyze the election campaign programs which populist parties operating in individual V4 countries presented for EP elections in 2019, using a qualitative content analysis of the official election programs of relevant populist parties and other sources of their communication. It tries to identify topics that have been framed as a problem or risk by Central European populists and how these topics have been interpreted in their programs. The so-called “immigration crisis” and the contemporary state of the European Union are seen as the most problematic topics by a majority of the populists. On the other hand, the majority of these parties do not want some Central European version of Brexit. Their rhetorical goal is rather the reform the Union.
In the works of the contemporary Russian poet Ivan Zhdanov, religious motifs, images, and ideas are intertwined with the philosophy of seeking answers to the 'eternal' questions of life and death, faith and breaking away from God, and good against evil. Referring to the analysis and interpretation of his most poignant poem Orans, the article demonstrates the author's metaphysical approach to the perception and transformation of the world and humanity. As in all Zhdanov's works, in this poem there are two worlds, i. e. the divine and the human, which the author strives to unify and transform. The poet considers love, hope, and forgiveness the fundamental way to reconfigure human experience, which is also apparent from the very title of the poem, Orans. This is a symbol of forgiveness, embodied in the person of the Mother of God, whom the author calls "hope for ultimate forgiveness". Themes of pain and suffering, an integral part of human existence, are intertwined in this poem, as well as among many others in the author's oeuvre. Elements of Christian axiology are among the main pillars of his artistic world, which is filled with a desire for spiritual revival. In addition to biblical motifs (the Archangel, the Last Judgment, etc.), we also observe reliance on the folk tradition of the Eastern Slavs (Pokrov Day or the Intercession of the Theotokos). In addition to decoding individual images, the article also pays attention to the poetic style, rhythmic composition, rhyme, and complex metamorphic language which make the poet a representative of metametaphorism/metarealism/neo-baroque. The relationship between the poet and memory, or poetic mission, plays an important role in the poem.
On the example of lexico-syntagmatic combinatorics of minimal phrases of the preposition + noun type, a new approach to the study of equivalence from the point of view regarding their collocability, aspects of use, and recurrent lexical expansion models based on large corpora in German in compariosn to Slovak is presented. A special type of German prepositional phrase (PP) with a zero or fossilized article is examined. The zero article or the fossilized article before the noun indicates a higher degree of lexicalization and is therefore of particular interest from the point of view of phraseology. Analysis of PP is primarily carried out in their usual language environment in authentic corpus data. The corpus data in the form of cooccurrence-profiles and recurrent lexical extensions are processed qualitatively from the point of typical reproducible lexical-semantic fields, for which a special lexpan program is used. This approach is used in parallel to find equivalence in the German-Slovak language pair. The article shows the reasons for the polyequivalence of this type of minimal phrases. Convergences and discrepancies between PP and their equivalents do not form clear disjunctive relationships. Factors affecting the equivalence of PP include the divergences of extensional or intensional semantics and the scattered inclusion of aspects of use, typical collocation profiles of the compared PP, and their recurrent extension models. In the German-Slovak comparison, the heterogeneous character of compatible verbs with special features in aspect and type of action also plays an important role. These analyses are evidence for our previous observations, which showed that the equivalent depends on the typical fixed, usual environment and the hypothesis of a proto typical equivalent in the case of PP raises serious doubts.

The paper presents the problem of transformations of phraseological units in modern Russian and Slovak advertising slogans. The primary task of the advertising slogan is to attract the attention of the recipient, to interest a potential buyer, to motivate him to buy certain products. When classical linguistic means and techniques turn out to be ineffective or outdated, the creators of advertising slogans resort to various transformations of the existing material well-known to a certain society, word play and other experiments with language. Transformation of phraseological units is a justified, effective and highly relevant method of attracting attention in various spheres of communication (media, fiction, Internet, blogs, advertising, politics, etc.). This technique has occupied the dominant position in advertising for more than a decade, since fixed expressions or allusions to them appeal to the wisdom of the nation, its origins, and evoke positive images in memory. The purpose of this article is to identify the transformations of phraseological units in advertising using the example of two Slavic languages, to analyse specific examples of transformations created by Russian and Slovak authors, to consider the methods of creating such transformations, to note their features and to draw appropriate conclusions.
