Objective: Understanding the relationship of social determinants in the Health Promotion of quilombola women. Method: This was a participatory study developed through the Research Itinerary of Paulo Freire, which comprises three stages: thematic investigation, codification and decoding, and critical unveiling. These stages were developed in Culture Circles from April to June 2016. Twenty themes were investigated, coded and decoded into eight themes, revealing the theme of women and their relationship with the Social Determinants. Results: Ten women from a quilombola community in Santa Catarina participated. The Health Promotion of this population and its interface with Social Determinants were understood. Health, religiosity, racial issues, social and community networks emerged as potentializing community empowerment and solidification. Conclusion: An accentuated correlation of racial issues and fragility combined with health care, education and information, and above all the distancing of vulnerable communities from comprehensive and equitable health was observed, highlighting the imminent need to strengthen Health Promotion strategies.
Objective: to understand the relationship of social determinants in health promotion for women living in a quilombola community, through Paulo Freire's Research Itinerary. Method: a qualitative study, with a participatory character, developed through Paulo Freire's Research Itinerary. Ten quilombola women aged between 24 and 54 years, living in the Morro do Fortunato Community, Garopaba, Brazil, participated in the study from April to June 2016. During the three-month-period, the thematic research, codification, decoding and critical unveiling were performed. Results: 20 generating themes were initially investigated which were coded and decoded in eight and unveiled in two significant themes, quilombola women and access, which, when unveiled, deepened the empowerment and the relationship with health promotion in this community. Conclusion: this study enabled women to be aware of their realities and consequent empowerment and fruitful reflections which provided an increase in self-esteem, appreciation and self-care, as well as the perception of their strengths, often muted by the adversities of the day to day.
Objective: to know how the Social Determinants of Health are dealt with in the Prenatal Nursing consultation in Primary Health Care. Method: this is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study, with 15 nurses, through semistructured interviews, continuing with the thematic analysis of the data. Results: the understanding about the Social Determinants of Health is limited to factors related to the socioeconomic situation and the pregnant woman's family network. The performance of the multiprofessional team was revealed and the need to involve intersectoral actions was emphasized. Limits and difficulties related to the performance of nurses on the determinants and conditions that interfere in the lives of pregnant women were identified. Conclusion: it is revealed that, although nurses do not understand the concept broadly, acting is a reality during prenatal care. However, there are multiple barriers faced by pregnant women and there are many limits and difficulties encountered by professionals to act broadly on the Social Determinants of Health.
