Size-complementary cyclotriveratrylene (CTV)-based hosts can incarcerate C , C , and C , thus allowing the selective isolation of these higher-order fullerenes from a commercially available mixture of fullerenes. The hemicarceplexes, formed after the encapsulation of the size-complementary fullerenes within the hosts, are isolated by column chromatography and released at elevated temperature, thereby leading to the isolation of C /C and C in good purities (up to 95 and 88 %, respectively).
We report the synthesis of a cyclotriveratrylene-based molecular container and its distinctly different modes of complexation with dimethyldiazapyrenium and 4,4'-biphenylbisdiazonium ions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
