Lichen planus (LP) is a mucocutaneous inflammatory disease of unknown etiology. It affects 0.5%-2% of the general population, particularly patients between 30 and 60 years old. 1 The main clinical features are pruritic polygonal violaceous flat-top papules. 2 Most cutaneous forms of LP resolve spontaneously in a few years, so treatment aims are primarily to reduce the symptoms and shorten the time to resolution. 2 Nevertheless, recalcitrant lesions of LP and its variants can originate squamous cell carcinomas. 2
