This article aims to provide an effort to educate and inform the public about environmental issues become more critical. Develop community character can effectively care for the environment is possible through environmental education in schools. As a place of learning, the school has a special role to play; schools can help students to understand the impact of human behavior on Earth. Adiwiyata program implemented in order to realize the school community who are responsible for the protection and management of the environment through good school governance to support sustainable development. Adiwiyata program combines learning and action, so as to provide an effective method to change behavior. Adiwiyata school is expected to be agents of change for the people in the neighborhood around the school. Schools should be a model in creating a healthy and comfortable environment as well as being a model in creating a school community that cares and cultured environment. School community then expected to be an example and transmit characters care about the environment to the public.
This article was written to give an idea of the urgency of disaster education curriculum based on local wisdom in Indonesia. For that purpose, the author uses the method of literature. As a country which has enormous potential for disaster, Indonesia needs to implement a disaster curriculum in educational institutions so that students have the knowledge and insight about the disaster. This disaster education have a common goal to provide an overview and reference in the learning process of disaster preparedness. Through education students are expected to be able to think and act fast, precise, and accurate in the face of disaster. Empathy toward victims can also be constructed so that learners can help others appropriately and carefully. Pattern and diversity of natural disasters faced also vary because each region has different characteristics as well. Then, disaster curriculum should accommodate local wisdom, as an effort to provide appropriate education to deal simultaneously with a disaster. Curriculum based on local wisdom will explain the relationship between humans and the natural environment and cultural environment around them.
This study is back grounded by importance of ecoliteracy for each individual in the effort to embody sustainable community. One of comprehensive efforts to build ecoliteracy in community since early is through Adiwiyata Program. Based on this, this study is aimed to find out how the effectiveness of Adiwiyata Program in the effort to build students' ecoliteracy in Banda Aceh. The method which is used is survey. The study is conducted in ten schools, with respondents are principal/vice principal, teachers, administrative staff and students. Data analysis is done descriptively toward independent variable and dependent variable and hypothesis test use non parametric statistic test. The result of study showed that there is positive and significant influence of school policy, curriculum implementation, school culture and school infrastructure management toward students' ecoliteracy. The findings of study is the more effective four components of Adiwiyata is implemented, the higher of students' ecoliteracy. Therefore, four components of Adiwiyata should be implemented maximally in each school, among other by strengthening Adiwiyata school team. Eco School is a program which aimed to create school members who are responsible in the effort to protect and manage school environment through good school governance to support sustainable development. School principal as leader in school should be able to play active and maximal role in the effort to create Eco School. This study is aimed to find out the role of school principal leadership in implementation of Eco School Program as the effort to support sustainable development. This study used qualitative approach and case study method. Data collection was done in 10 schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia by involving 10 school principals as respondents. Result of study showed that school principal leadership has very vital role in school success in achieving the aim of Eco School Program. The result of study showed that school principal's care and commitment to environmental problems has big role toward development and implementation of environmental school policy. Based on this, as initial step to achieve the aim of Eco School Program then school principals should care and have high commitment toward environmental problems and they should become motivator and role model for all school members in order to have eco-friendly attitude and behavior.
