This paper outlines the digital designs and their implementation on the Altium NanoBoard 3000 and the use of the VHDL language. An approach is proposed for the design and implementation of traffic light controllers using FPGAs. The focus of this study is to develop an effective traffic signalling strategy to be implemented at a typical intersection. The hardware and software development platform used for final implementation is the Altium NanoBoard 3000 Xilinx Edition, along with the Altium Designer package. The NanoBoard 3000 was newly released from Altium and it provided a convenient FPGA platform and all the necessary IP, IP Synthesis, and compilers needed to prototype the design and perform further research.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
