This study aimed to analyze student satisfaction and engagement effect in online learning which are influenced by student interaction. We use the concept of interaction which is divided into three types of interactions, namely student interactions with other students, student interactions with tutors/teachers, and student interactions with content. We conducted this research in an open and distance learning university in Indonesia. To answer the research goals, we applied a quantitative research approach utilizing structural equation modelling to verify our proposed hypotheses. To gain the data, we exploit an online survey through a questionnaire and the data were being collected randomly. The population of this study was all students in Faculty of Economics who registered in online learning at the first semester of 2018 that reach as many as 124,041 students. We attached the questionnaires in all online classes and 4,305 of them were completed and could be used for statistical analysis. We proposed four hypotheses and based on the result of structural modelling, we verified that all the hypotheses were supported. The statistical analysis has found that interaction among students, interaction between students and teacher, and interaction between students and content have positive impact on student engagement. The results also showed that student engagement has positive impact on student satisfaction. We discuss the practical implication and suggestion for future research in the results and discussion section.
Universitas Terbuka (UT) is a distance education institution that implements communication technology in various ways. In accordance with the implementation of this technology, UT uses both printed and non-printed materials designed as selflearning materials. These learning materials provide students not only with explanations of a subject but also with instructional learning purposes, examples, practices, summaries, formative tests, feedbacks, and learning instructions. Computer Assisted instruction (CAI) as a technology based learning material can be used as a supplement to the main learning material. For instance, Operation Research is mainly delivered to students through modules but it is completed by the CAI program. In order to improve the quality of the CAI program, an evaluation is needed, especially the evaluation that invites students' opinion. It is important to ask the students how the CAI program can help them comprehend a topic and which part of the program should be improved. The aim of this study is to figure out whether there are differences between students' expectation and students' perception toward the quality of the CAI program, namely the Operation Research. Some questionnaires were given to 41 respondents in Jakarta. Purposive sampling was chosen as a sampling technique with a criterion that each respondent has passed Operation Research Subject examination. From 30 questionnaires sent back and analyzed it can be concluded that there are some differences between students' expectation and students' perception toward the quality of the CAI program.
NSR Carica ,merupakan UMKM yang berada di Desa Bawang Kabupaten Batang, Jawa Tengah. Usaha NSR Carica memiliki produk yaitu minuman kemasan sejenis manisan berkuah manis yang segar dan nikmat. Buah Carica yang berasal dari dataran tinggi Dieng, diolah sedemikian rupa sehingga menjadi produk yang dapat memiliki nilai jual yang cukup tinggi. Hal ini karena buah carica yang hanya tumbuh di dataran tinggi Dieng, sehingga merupakan buah yang langka dan olahannya pun sering dicari konsumen sebagai buah tangan para pembelinya. Dari desa Bawang ke Dieng hanya butuh waktu 30 menit. Sehingga buah carica mudah didapatkan. Olahan buah carica ini memiliki potensi ekonomi yang sangat bagus. Buahnya yang langka, membuat para konsumen merasa penasaran akan rasa dan bentuknya. Pemasaran yang dilakukan masih konvensional dengan cara door to door dan titip di toko, pasar, dan tempat wisata. Dari situ waktu dan tenaga menjadi tidak efisien. Sehingga diberikan solusi dari tim pengabdian masyarakat yang terdiri dari dosen dan mahasiswa UT Semarang, yaitu pelatihan dan pendampingan pemasaran carica melalui media sosial tiktok shop dan shopee. Kegiatan berupa ceramah, praktik langsung pembuatan toko virtual di tiktok shop dan shopee, juga upload produk. Hasil yang didapatkan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini sangat dirasakan dengan adanya penambahan jumlah karyawan dan naiknya penjualan dan meluasnya pengenalan produk NSR Carica. Sebelum adanya pelatihan dan pendampingan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, karyawan ada 5 orang termasuk owner. Setelah adanya kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat tim dosen dan mahasiswa UT Semarang, kayawan menjadi 9 orang. Penjualan juga yang awalnya produksi 35-50 pack perminggu meningkat menjadi 50-100 pack perminggu.Dalam 1 pack kemasan terdapat 6 cup minuman NSR Carica.
