This study aimed to examine the ideas of one prominent Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) preacher named KH Ahmad Muwafiq (Muwafiq) about Islamic moderation in Indonesia while preaching in Bogor Palace on November 21, 2018. Through content analysis of Muwafiq's preaching that was uploaded on YouTube media, this study found that there are two main themes in Muwafiq' speech that were seemed related to the efforts to conserve moderate Islam; first is his preaching model has emulated the Prophet Muhammad model in proselytising Islam, such as wise, non-violent, and adjustable to the character and condition of the society. The second is related to the influence of tradition and culture in the implementation of Islamic teachings.
Studi ini bertujuan untuk meneliti gagasan-gagasan seorang tokoh terkemuka Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), pimpinan Pondok Pesantren Sabilurrosyad Malang yaitu KH Marzuki Mustamar tentang upaya menangkal tumbuhnya paham radikalisme pada pondok pesantren. Melalui analisa hasil wawancara, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa yang terpenting dalam upaya menangkal tumbuhnya paham radikalisme di pesantren adalah kemampuan para kyai atau pengasuh pesantren dalam mengontekstualisasikan nilai-nilai ajaran Islam dengan konteks kehidupan yang ada dalam proses pembelajarannya. Melalui kemampuan ini, para santri akan menjadi tahu dan memahami bahwa ajaran Islam benar-benar relevan dengan kehidupan dan mampu membawa kemaslahatan bagi seluruh umat manusia. Dalam hal ini, para kyai atau para pengasuh pesantren bisa melakukannya melalui beberapa cara: pertama, memilih materi-materi atau kitab-kitab yang berpandangan moderat yaitu yang berpaham ahlussunnah, dan menafsirkan ulang terhadap materi-materi atau kitab-kitab yang tidak sesuai dengan konteks keindonesiaan. Kedua menanamkan kepada para santri nilai-nilai ketauhidan dan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan secara seimbang, ketiga, memberikan keteladanan dalam berperilaku toleran di masyarakat. Keempat membiasakan para santri berperilaku toleran melalui praktek langsung berbaur dengan masyarakat.
This article discusses about the ideas of KH Abdul Karim Amrullah in developing Islamic Education in West Sumatra. This is a kind of library research using descriptive-qualitative methode. The result of the research shows that KH. Abdul Karim Amrullah was one of the leading Muslim Intelectual who had been succesful in developing Islamic education especiallay in Minangkabau. Among of his thoughts were: 1) designing curriculum based on grade level 2) introducing learning methode which enable the students to develop their thinking skill, 3) training students to learn and practice in organization, 4) replacing the old Kitabs with the new ones which enable the students to develop their intelectuals as preparation to face the challenges of the times.
This article discusses about the relevance of KH Imam Zarkasi thoughts of education in developing intrapersonal intelligence. It is a kind of library research using descriptive-qualitative method. The resutt of this research shows that KH. Imam Zarkasi`s thoughts are still very relevant to be implemented in developing students` intrapersonal intelligence. Among of his thoughts are; 1) developing intrapersonal intelligence can be through two ways; intentionally, that is through education in formal institutions, and unintentionally that is through interaction with the surrounding community and the nature. 2) The method of learning to develop intrapersonal intelligence is through individual training; by entrusting children to carry out their own duties with full responsibility, giving children the opportunity to make their own decisions and be responsible for their decisions, and other similar activities. These thoughts have been applied by KH Imam Zarkasi through the institution he developed, namely Pondok Pesantren Gontor. Among of his renewal efforts are; The implementation learning using classical system, the use of learning methods that provide opportunities for children to develop their thinking power critically, independently and responsibly, and provide extracurricular activities as a forum for students to develop themselves. This research intends to determine the extent to which the potential of pesantren is based on the mandate contained in Law no. 18 in 2019 about Pesantren in an effort to increase the Human Development Index (IPM) in Indonesia. This research is qualitative research using a literature study approach in the data collection process, both primary and secondary. The primary data in the form of the Pesantren Law was then analyzed in terms of the Human Development Index indicators with the assistance of several secondary sources such as journal articles, web articles, and books. The results of this research indicate that Pesantren has the potential in efforts to increase the Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia through two dimensions: 1) Pesantren have the potential to increase the Knowledge dimension (Expected School Length and Average School Length) in its function as an educational institution through the provision of formal education Pesantrens in the form of the Satuan Pendidikan Muadalah (SPM), Pendidikan Diniyah Formal (PDF), and Ma'had Aly; 2) Pesantren have the potential to increase the dimension of a Decent Standard of Living through their function in community empowerment with various training programs and economic empowerment and entrepreneurship.
