The friction stir welding process is an innovative technique for joining metals using plasticity, without presenting the fusion. It was first applied to aluminum alloys, for example copper, steel alloys, polymers and others. In this work the effects of the rotational speed, the speed of travel and the axial force of the tool were grouped in a mathematical model to quantify their influences on the weld seam. In this context and with of the experimental tests, the desired objective through this study is to describe the tensile strength of the cord resulting from this welding operation, for the qualification of this type of parts with an optimum adapted to a given application.
In this study, the finite element method is used to analyze the effect of corrosion and the behavior of inclined cracks of an aluminum plate Al 2024 -T3 under thermomechanical loading. The effects of the inclination of the crack and the effect of temperature for and different types and shapes of adhesives are highlighted. The results obtained show the increase of the crack inclination leads to a decrease of the damaged area and the damaged area ratio of the adhesive. In addition, the ratio DR increases with increasing temperature variation ΔT. The best performing patch shape that gave interesting results during this analysis is the circular and for type the Boron/epoxy is the best.
The understanding of phenomena, no matter their nature is based on the experimental results found. In the most cases, this requires an important number of tests in order to put a reliable and useful observation served into solving the technical problems subsequently. This paper is based on independent and variables combination resulting from experimentation in a mathematical formulation. Indeed, mathematical modeling gives us the advantage to optimize and predict the right choices without passing each case by the experiment. In this work we plan to apply the experimental design method on the experimental results found by Deokar, A (2011), concerning the effect of the size and position of a crack on the measured frequency of a beam console, and validating the mathematical model to predict other frequencies
