This study attempts to identify the antecedents of business success in the Malaysian perspective, with particular reference to small businesses under the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) scheme. Cross sectional data were collected from 199 small businesses operating under the (FELDA) scheme via questionnaire. The data collected were analysed using partial least square method. The empirical results indicated that only entrepreneurial competency and technology usage are related to successes of small businesses. However, this study found insufficient empirical evidence to support the relationship between marketing capability, financial resources, knowledge sharing, and business success. As this study was confined to the small businesses under the FELDA scheme, this provides valuable findings by uncovering the differences among the critical success factors due to the different reasons for formation of the small businesses. The insights gained from this study could facilitate industry practitioners to develop comprehensive business strategies and effective institutional policies to maintain the global competitiveness of small businesses under the FELDA scheme.
Over the period of time researchers and social scientists are studying why not only intellectual intelligence is sufficient and can only be the predictor of success amongst individuals? The scholars have realized the importance and need of social intelligence which is related to the non-cognitive abilities and is known as emotional intelligence. This paper develops conceptual understanding on two major perspectives that makes the sense of teams becoming emotionally intelligent. By focusing how individuals apprehend the emotions they possess and simultaneously emotions of their team members via strengthening their emotional capacity that ultimately leads them to the higher level of performance. It is evident across the globe that individuals' embraced emotionally intelligence are working individuals who strive hard to develop and practice emotional intelligence skills to be an effective team members that leads to enhance performance. High Performance teams are well equipped with emotional intelligence for getting work done through team members. For that particular purpose it is pertinent to know what emotionally intelligent teams are comprised of. Therefore it is synthesized from the literature how emotional intelligence of individuals can be a critical component of as an effective team member and propensity to a productive team work.
Knowledge Sharing is a significant facilitator of performance in organizations through teams for gaining competitive advantage. However, very few studies investigated the relationship between knowledge sharing and team environment with a subsequent effect on team performance. For effective team performance, team members are encouraged to exchange their varied knowledge, opinions, paradigms, and expertise required to accomplish team tasks. Therefore, this study attempts to investigate the effect of knowledge sharing on team performance through the lens of team culture. A quantitative study by employing survey method was conducted by collecting data from healthcare teams working in healthcare institutions of Pakistan. The study examines the direct and indirect effect of team culture on team performance by statistically testing the research model by utilizing the technique of structural equation modeling. Results from response by106 teams comprised of 397 members' exhibit that teams with visible performance indicators depict strong team cultures which deemed important for sharing knowledge amongst team members. The study findings provide useful insights and contribute to the literature of team performance and knowledge sharing in the healthcare sector and urge administrators to encourage team members to share their expertise enhancing the performance of teams.
