<p class="0abstract">This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of burnout among nurses, to determine the socio-demographic characteristics associated with burnout, and to assess the influence of the practice of physical activities on burnout. This is an observational study of a cross-sectional type. A self-administered survey was used to determine the socio-demographic and professional characteristics. The Copenhagen Burnout Inventory to evaluate burnout and the Ricci-Gagnon questionnaire to assess the level of physical activity and sports practice. In total, 16.7% of the participating nurses displayed a high level of general burnout (63.3% medium, 20% low), and 23% displayed a high level of patient-related burnout (34% medium, 43% low). Physical activity had no protective effect against burnout, as 87% of participants were physically active. This research result confirmed what exists in other scientific publications; the prevalence of burnout is a reality in the health professions. It is necessary to think of setting up accompaniments to sensitize nurses for primary prevention against burnout.</p>
<p class="0abstract">This research study serves, on the one hand, to assess the prevalence of burnout among the nursing staff. On the other hand, to determine the socio-demographic and professional characteristics associated with burnout. The aim is to propose an interactive tool to cope with burnout. This is an observational study of a cross-sectional type, conducted among a population of 30 nurses over 4 months. A two sections self-administered survey was used to determine: 1) Sociodemographic and professional characteristics; 2) the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory to evaluate burnout. In total, 17% of nurses display a high level of burnout in both its dimensions and that more than 50% are highly susceptible to it. Moreover, 83% of participants agreed to use the technology as a solution. The proposed prevention solution to cope with burnout was developed by the scratch programming code using the app inventor tool, it consists of three online services (Training, Assessment, Support).</p>
This study aimed to assess the prevalence of stress among healthcare professionals, and to study coping strategies adopted to deal with stress. This is an observational study of a cross-sectional type. A self-administered survey was used to determine the personal and professional characteristics. The Perceived Stress Scale to assess the level of perceived stress. The Ways of Coping Checklist to measure coping strategies. The Perceived Stress Scale shows that the study population is susceptible to stress. Problem-focused coping emerged as the most frequently used coping process for coping with stress. The results lead us to question the importance of coping strategies and to propose effective solutions, the use of new technology is recommended for coping with stress.
This study aimed to evaluate the Effort-Reward Imbalance among nurses and its association with burnout syndrome. This is an observational study of a cross-sectional type. A self-administered survey was used to collect the socio-demographic and professional characteristics. The Siegrist Effort-Reward Imbalance scale to measure the psychosocial risks and the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory to assess burnout. The results indicate that the level of burnout is moderate [patient-related burnout (2.77±0.95), general burnout (3.00±0.67)], but there is an imbalance between the efforts and rewards received by nurses (1.50±0.51). The indices calculated by Cronbach’s alpha are very important for effort (α=0.79), and reward (α=0.75). The results raise questions about the importance of a better understanding of the effect of psychosocial risks on health through perceived effort/reward. The use of information and communication technologies to accurately identify psychosocial risks at work is recommended.
