The El Nino/La Nina Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon indirectly provides dramatic changes to tidal that can cause floods, drought and affect various marine activities. Tidal observation data plays important role in determining the characteristic or behaviour of tide along the coastal area especially during sudden climate change such as the phenomenon of El Nino/La Nina, the Northeast Monsoon, Northwest Monsoon and Tsunami. It is important to study the occurrence of the ENSO event and it characteristic so that it can be used for prediction and monitoring the land and water ecosystem. This research is to identify the variations of sea level and tidal behaviour in Malaysian coastline during El Nino/La Nina. The tidal observation data, meteorology data (temperature and mean sea level pressure), and Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) calculation are used to look on the changes of the tidal variation during the ENSO phenomenon. The results of this research will specially benefit in the determination of tidal level in Malaysia and to the professionals who have responsibilities in policy making, agriculture, environmental planning, economics and marine engineering.
Penggunaan strategi kemahiran membaca di kalangan pelajar adalah salah satu faktor yang menyumbang kepada pencapaian akademik pelajar dalam bidang pengajian mereka. Walau bagaimanapun, banyak kajian menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan strategi kemahiran membaca dalam kalangan pelajar pengajian Islam adalah mengecewakan. Oleh itu, tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk menilai keberkesanan modul pembelajaran kendiri strategi pemahaman membaca teks bahasa Arab yang telah dibangunkan untuk membantu mereka menguasai kemahiran membaca bahasa Arab dengan lebih berkesan. Modul ini telah direka dan dibangunkan untuk membantu pembaca meningkatkan kepantasan dan ketepatan memahami bacaan bahasa Arab, untuk kegunaan pelajar, guru atau pembaca yang telah mempunyai asas bahasa Arab seperti asas nahw, sarf dan balaghah. Pengajaran strategi membaca dalam modul tersebut diadaptasi daripada strategi membaca SQ3R (survey, question, read, recite and review). Instrumen kajian yang digunakan adalah sebuah modul pembelajaran kendiri strategi pemahaman membaca bahasa Arab yang dikenali sebagai MPK SPMBA, dan ujian pencapaian yang terdiri daripada satu set soalan ujian pra kefahaman teks dan satu set solan ujian pasca kefahaman teks, dan satu set soal selidik penggunaan strategi membaca yang diuji selepas ujian pra kefahaman dan pasca kefahaman teks. Data dianalisis menggunakan ujian t untuk menunjukkan perbezaan antara pemboleh ubah kajian menggunakan program SPSS-Windows versi 20.0. Penemuan kajian menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan MPK SPMBA mempunyai kesan positif dalam meningkatkan kepantasan dan ketepatan pemahaman bacaan teks bahasa Arab dalam kalangan peserta kajian. Penggunaan modul pembelajaran kendiri ini adalah relevan dengan tuntutan Dasar Pendidikan Nasional Malaysia yang bertujuan untuk " memastikan setiap murid Islam berpeluang mengikuti Pendidikan Islam dan bahasa Arab yang berkualiti". The use of reading skills strategies among students is one of the factors contributing to students' reading and academic achievement in their field of study. However, many studies show that the use of reading skills strategies among Islamic students is disappointing. The purpose of this study is therefore to evaluate the effectiveness of a self-study module on Arabic language reading comprehension strategies that have been developed to help them master Arabic reading skills more effectively. The module is called the Self-Learning Module of Arabic Reading Comprehension Strategy (MPK SPMBA). This module has been designed and developed to help readers improve their reading speed and accuracy in reading Arabic material. The MPK SPMBA is specially designed for students, teachers or readers with basic Arabic language such as the basics of nahw, sarf and balaghah. It comes with the teaching of reading strategies adapted from the SQ3R reading strategies (survey, question, read, recite and review). The research instrument used in this study is a module known as the MPK SPMBA and achievement test consisting of two sets of text comprehension test questions, pre and post test, and a set of questionnaire using the reading strategy tested before the pre and post test. text comprehension. Data were analyzed using t-test to show differences between study variables using SPSS-Windows program version 20.0. The findings of the study indicate that the use of SPMBA MPK has a positive effect on improving comprehension and reading speed of Arabic texts among study participants. The study's findings suggest that the MPK SPMBA should be used as a self-directed teaching tool in enhancing the ability of Islamic students to understand Arabic text reading more accurately and quickly. The use of this self-learning module is relevant to the demands of the Malaysian National Education Policy which seeks to "ensure that every Muslim student has the opportunity to pursue quality Islamic Education and Arabic".
ABSTRACT:There are many factors that influence the change of the tidal constituent pattern. The factors can be classified as astronomical factors and nonastronomical factors. The astronomical factors involve the gravitational force attraction by the moon and sun. The distance of sun and moon influence the gravitational attractions that are produced by the moon and sun towards earth surface. Non-astronomical factors involved the movements of currents, waves, temperature and so on which is cause by the phenomenon such as El-Nino, La-Nina. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of these phenomena towards the pattern of tidal constituent during the phenomenon on several stations that have been chosen. The difference stations were chose due to the change in the position of celestial body. In addition, tidal data for several stations were processed using the UTM Tidal Analysis and Prediction Software (μ-TAPS). Based on the tidal data that has been processed, the graphs were plotted for the predicted data and observed data to compare the different pattern between the data. The tidal data that has been processed were used to analyse the pattern of tidal constituents based on the changing amplitude of M2, S2, K1, O1, Sa, Ssa, Mm, Mf and MSf.
This paper will present the word classification method in developing a Malay-Arabic corpus online database. Word classification was developed in this model to explain to users about the types of words in the sentences and phrases displayed as the search results of Malay-Arabic comparable sentences. Word classification is a method of describing to users, especially to students who have a problem with identifying word classes, particularly in the Arabic language. Word classes are divided based on three main classes of the Arabic language, namely ism, fiʽil and harf. Ism is divided into ism ʽalam and ism mushtaq. Ism mushtaq is divided into masdar, ism al-faʽil, ism al-maʽful, ism al-zaman and ism al-makan. Fiʽil is divided into three main components, namely fiʽil al-madhi, fiʽil al-mudhari' and fiʽil al-amr. While harf is in harf component only. The method of listing each of these word class components is done using a software that separates each sentence component entry based on word class. The development of this database was made by using PHP software, MySQL Database and Linux-based Web Server System. The word class displayed will be in accordance with each phrase or sentence entry inserted, together with the translations. User is only required to enter a keyword in the search box and the system will display the search results of comparable Malay-Arabic phrases or sentences along with the word classes.
This paper discusses the procedures used in teaching and learning Malay-Arabic translation courses for students of Bachelor of Arabic Studies with Education.This procedure is designed to facilitate the problem of students in structuring Arabic sentences based on the correct method of translation. Referring to the natural translation theory by Nida and Taber that prioritizes message delivery despite changes to the original text. This method was introduced as an alternative to students to construct Arabic sentences when translating according to the procedure that has been designed systematically for teaching and learning (T&L). This procedure is divided into five steps. The first step is understanding the text through intensive reading. Next, in the second step is finding the meaning of difficult phrases by using dictionary and discussion. The third step, which is the main basis of the procedure is breaking the paragraphs of text into short sentences based on verb phrases. The fourth step is categorizing each sentence into the Arabic syntax structure for verb phrases. The fifth step is compiling and building a draft sentence which is translated directly through the translation text based on the steps above. The outcome of using this procedure increases the quality of Malay-Arabic translation and making it more understandable as students apply the structure of a correct Arabic sentence. This procedure will be used as an alternative for students in practising scientific translation in accordance with translation procedures.
