ABSTRACT Introduction:The physical fitness related to health refers to the physical and physiological characteristics that define the morbidity and mortality profiles. Objective: To a Assess the physical fitness related to health of 7-10 year-old students. Methods: The study included 93 7-10 year-old students of both sexes. The instrument used was the battery of tests and measures of Projeto Esporte Brasil (PROESP-BR), including (flexibility test, muscular endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance and body mass index (BMI), "weight/height 2 ". Results: It was observed that the students presented desired levels of physical fitness in the tests (flexibility and BMI), but in muscular endurance and cardiopulmonary tests, they got unwanted levels considering health risk. Conclusion: Our results do not show satisfactory levels of physical fitness related to health in muscular and cardiorespiratory endurance, revealing a risk of developing non transmissible chronic diseases to students.
ABSTRACTPhysical fitness has been studied in the last decades by two essential aspects: health related aptitude (ApFRS) and fitness related to motor performance (ApFDM), physical fitness can be defined as the ability to perform with energy and vigor activity fatigue. To describe and compare health indicators in schoolchildren: nutritional status and health related physical fitness by sex. A total of 100 adolescents aged 11 to 14 years participated in the study. The instrument used was the battery of test and measurement proesp-br containing 4 items: Flexibility; Muscle resistance; Cardiorespiratory fitness and body mass index (weight / height2). The data were tabulated and analyzed in SPSS version 20.0 for Windows, verifying normality by the kolmogorov-Smirnov test, descriptive statistics were performed with mean and standard deviation and Student's t-test for independent sample for comparison between sex. When comparing fitness between sexes there was a significant difference in the flexibility test (p = 0.10) and muscular endurance (p = 0.16), when checking the results according to the criteria set by the proesp-br both boys and girls presented (94.4% boys and 86.2% girls) and cardiorespiratory fitness (40.8% boys and 58.6% girls). We conclude that physical fitness is largely below expected levels. Making it more and more important to implement interventions ...
Introduction:The Movement Assessment Battery for Children, Second Edition (MABC-2) has been widely used in national literature for the diagnosis of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). The relationship of MABC-2 with the scientifi c gold standard instrument for DCD, the Brazilian version of the Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire (DCDQ-BR), is not well established and is rather controversial. Objective: The aim of this study was to verify the concurrent validity of the MABC-2 motor battery and the DCDQ-BR, controlled for sex and age group. Methods:The concurrent validation process took place with the participation of 350 schoolchildren aged 7-11 years from the cities of Florianopolis-SC and Manaus-AM and their parents or guardians. The agreement between instruments was assessed with the Spearman correlation test and simple linear regression using SPSS software version 20.0. Results: Positive correlation between instruments´ scales was found. Conclusion: This study showed evidence of concurrent validity between MABC-2 and DCDQ-BR, suggesting that MABC-2 can be used as an indicator for developmental coordination disorder.
School performance assessment in physical fitness tests ABSTRACTThe study aimed to evaluate the performance of students in physical fitness tests. The sample consisted of 88 students, of which 43 were female and 45 were male. The instrument used was to test battery and PROESP-BR measures containing 5 items: Speed test (20m running); Agility test (square); Explosive power test of the lower limbs (standing long jump); Explosive power test of the upper limbs (throwing medicine ball) and cardiorespiratory endurance (6-minute ride). It is noticed that most school showed levels of fitness lower than expected, especially in explosive force components of the lower limbs, agility, speed and cardiorespiratory fitness. It is suggested a better characterization of this population so that public policies to encourage physical activity to improve the physical fitness levels of school can be created.Descriptors: Physical Fitness; Child; Physical Activity.
