Inspired by the results from the qualitative study about Polish female converts to Islam, I decided to write this article. The material I collected during the empirical study encouraged me to question a number of assumptions from the symbolic interactionism, which was the theoretical framework for the project. In this article, I focused on the development of identity of Muslim women from the perspective of verbal and non-verbal communication.
