Penelitian tentang pengobatan alternatif penyakit tulang ini dilakukan dengan tujuan, pertama, untuk mengungkap faktor-faktor yang menjadi alasan pengobatan alternatif penyakit tulang masih sangat diminati oleh masyarakat; kedua, menjelaskan kearifan lokal yang digunakan oleh para terapis penyakit tulang dalam praktik pengobatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif-kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kearifan lokal para terapis penyakit tulang di wilayah Jawa Barat. Pengumpulan datanya dilakukan melalui studi lapangan, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian lapangan adalah terungkapnya alasan masyarakat masih menggunakan jasa pengobatan tradisional. Alasan itu meliputi alasan praktis, ekonomis, berdaya guna, dan berhasil guna. Selain itu, terungkap juga kearifan lokal yang diwujudkan dalam cara penanganan pasien. Simpulannya adalah pengobatan alternatif penyakit tulang bukan lagi sebagai alternatif tetapi menjadi pilihan utama dan pertama. Oleh karena itu, kearifan lokal yang berkait dengan hal itu perlu diwariskan kepada generasi berikutnya dan sekaligus disistematisasi secara metodologis.This research aims to study why alternative medicine for bone disease is still in great demand by the public and to explain the local wisdom used by therapists for bone disease in West Java. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative method. Data collection is carried out through field studies, interviews, and literature studies. The results show that efficaciousness of its treatment are the reasons why the appeal for alternative medicine for bone disease aren’t declining, besides it having practical and economic advantages. In addition, local wisdom in handling patients plays an important part in its success. The conclusion is that alternative treatments for bone disease are no longer an alternative but they are becoming the first and foremost choice. Therefore, its local wisdom needs to be passed on to the next generation and at the same time methodologically systematized.
ABSTRAK. Abad ke-19 bagi Priangan khususnya dan Pulau Jawa umumnya merupakan moment penetrasi kolonial yang sangat intens. Hal ini dilakukan melalui pelibatan hampir sebagian besar komponen masyarakat dalam mengusahakan tanaman komersial yang laku di pasar internasional, seperti nila, kopi, teh, dan kina. Hal tersebut tidak serta-merta mematikan aktivitas perekonomian dan pertanian subsitem penduduk Priangan. Malah yang terjadi adalah hubungan komplementer antar-keduanya. Hal ini dimungkinkan selain karena faktor geografis-ekologis yang kondusif juga karena jenis tanaman yang diusahakan dan jenis tanah yang digunakan tidak menyaingi sektor ekonomi pertanian. Peran elit lokal sangat besar dalam menciptakan keseimbangan dan harmonisasi relasi antar penduduk pribumi, pemerintah kolonial, dan elit lokal sendiri yang pada gilirannya berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan produk dan terciptanya suasana aman. Fakta historis yang ditemukan di Priangan menjadi indikator penting yang menjelaskan derajat relatif kesejahteraan masyarakatnya. Penelitian yang saya lakukan ini menggunakan metode sejarah yang meliputi empat tahapan kerja: heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi.Kata Kunci: Sejarah, Priangan, Ekonomi, Kolonial. SOCIO-ECONOMIC DYNAMICS AT PRIANGAN IN 19th CENTURYABSTRACT. The nineteenth century in Priangan and Java was a moment of more intensive colonial penetration indicated by the involvement a number of indigenous people to plant commercial crops for international market such as indigo, coffee, tea, and cinchona. That situation did not automatically disturb subsistence agricultural activities. Even, the two sectors had a complementary relationship, which was made possible by geographical and ecological factors. In addition, types of plants and land used for it were not in competition against agricultural economic sector. Local elite played important roles to create the equilibrium and harmonious relations among indigenous people, colonial government, and local elites themselves that in turn had great influence to heighten product and create safe and conducive situation. Historical evidences found within Priangan were important indicators which explained a relative degree of prosperity of indigenous people. Folklore about Dewi Sri, the goddess of fertility in Indonesian culture has various versions. The version of the folklore used in this article is the Sundanese version “Nyi Mas Sanghyang Dewi Sri” collected in a research done by lecturers of Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. The folklore is represented in a written text in Sundanese language as the source language text and from the text, it is represented in Indonesian language as the first target language text, then in English language as the second target language text. How the folklore is represented in three languages and what methods of translation are used in target language texts are the objectives of this research. The research method used is descriptive-comparative method. The results show that the folklore is represented in different ways; some additional information are added particularly in the English target text and the method of translation used in the two target languages is mostly communicative translation but in the second target language text, free translation is also found. Despite these differences, the message that needs to be conveyed about Nyi Mas Sanghyang Dewi Sri as the goddess of fertility remains the same in all texts.
Pemukiman padat penduduk dan berada di wilayah industri biasanya mempunyai beberapa permasalahan. Satu di antara permasalahannya yaitu pencemaran lingkungan. Pun demikian dengan lingkungan Desa Mekargalih, Kecamatan Jatinangor, Kabupaten Sumedang. Wilayah padat penduduk yang berada di belakang kawasan industri di perbatasan Kabupaten Bandung dan Sumedang ini memiliki masalah pencemaran lingkungan. Lingkungan yang telah tercemar tentu saja berdampak pada timbulnya berbagai penyakit. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut maka kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan mengimplementasikan pengobatan alternatif pada masyarakat Desa Mekargalih sebagai bentuk pertolongan pertama saat timbulnya penyakit. Pengobatan alternatif yang dimaksud ialah pengobatan dengan memanfaatkan tanaman obat keluarga yang mudah diperoleh. Untuk mencapai tujuan sebagaimana disebut di atas, pelaksanaannya dilakukan melalui serangkaian kegiatan yang meliputi: inventarisasi, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan kaji tindak. Berdasarkan kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan, masyarakat Desa Mekargalih memanfaatkan tanaman obat sebagai bentuk pencegahan dan pertolongan pertama terhadap penyakit-penyakit yang timbul akibat polusi udara, pengelolaan sampah yang tidak baik, dan pencemaran air. Pemanfaatan tanaman obat tersebut merupakan implementasi kearifan lokal masyarakat Desa Mekargalih yang masih dipertahankan hingga kini.
The toponymy of naming places in social culture in certain places can describe the characteristics of the society in the past, therefore it is interesting to study how the ancestors of the society culture named their place. This research describes and classifies the naming based on the word structure, including prefixes, syllables it contains, and the complete word in the naming of a “kampung” which is covered in village, describing and classifying the meaning of the naming of the “kampung” based on particular categories, mapping the naming of the “kampung” on the map of the location, as well as developing the study location of the composition of the intersection of sets by taking the sample of “kampung” naming database in districts in East Priangan areas of West Java. The system development method used in this research is the waterfall software development method. Waterfall is a systematic classical model employed in developing software. The stages of Waterfall consists of Communication (Project Initiation & Requirements Gathering), Planning (Estimating, Scheduling, tracking), Modelling (Analysis Design), Construction (Coding and System Test), Deployment (Delivery, support, feedback), and Maintenance. The result of the study showed that 8,75% of the “kampung” names mostly start with the prefix “Ci”, “Pa”, “Su” with 8,75%, 9,62%, and 5,12% respectively. The syllable mostly contains the meaning of nature, place, feeling, and communication. The meaning of “kampung” naming represents the character of the society, which becomes the guidance for them in living their daily life: loving the nature and the environment, religious spirit, artistic soul, being hard worker, respecting the ancestors, soft feeling, and loving communicating. The result of the intersection of sets of the “kampung” names can help the researchers to determine the destination of the study location under the study, while the set composition describes the taking of each set composition which has the different number of the intersection of set members. The visualization of village naming makes the reading of “kampung” naming at each location of the research easy, both for the similarity and the typical nature of each area under the study.
