Professional self-determination of the individual is a complex and lengthy process of finding and realizing yourself in the profession. The main goal of professional self-determination is clarified. The basic concepts of readiness for professional self-determination of future specialists in the modern information society are revealed. The following approaches to the consideration of the concept of readiness are defined: functional-psychological, personal, activity-based. Based on the components of readiness identified by the researchers, it can be assumed that the structure of professional self-determination of the future specialist contains motivational, cognitive and activity components. Self-determination is defined as a multidimensional process that can be considered from different points of view: as a series of tasks, that society sets for the emerging individual, and which the individual must solve in a certain period. As a process of step-by-step decision-making, with the help of which the individual forms a balance between his desires and inclinations, on the one hand, and the needs of society, on the other; as a process of forming an individual lifestyle, part of which is professional activity. A number of tasks of professional self-determination of a future specialist in the information society are formulated.
The article attempts a theoretical analysis of the problem of professional identity in the research of foreign scientists as determinants of the process of professional self-determination of the future specialist. It is noted that the scientific term «professional identity» is the subject of various psychological and pedagogical studies. The author, like most scientists, delineates the category «professional identity» through the following directions: 1) the study of professional development, personal self-improvement, that is, personal identity represented in physical, intellectual and moral qualities; 2) social aspects and factors of becoming a professional, i.e. social identity. The article clarifies that foreign scientists single out this phenomenon as the main criterion for the professional development of an individual and the leading characteristic of the subject of work. It was found that the professional identity of the future specialist is formed only at sufficiently high levels of mastery of the profession, it is a stable coordination of the main elements of the professional process. Professional self-identification is one of the determinants of the formation of professional self-awareness and acts as a mechanism of this complex process. The author proves that students with a formed professional identity more productively model their own professional growth and more clearly formulate their intentions and professional goals. Justifying the connection between professional self-determination and identity, the author notes that in students with a formed professional identity, the activity is characterized as more successful; they realize themselves to a greater extent in professional self-determination; are satisfied with their professional activity; have formed professional plans and intentions; are able to make balanced decisions; more autonomous and confident in the correctness of the chosen profession. The article emphasizes that professional identity has a decisive influence on the professional self-determination of students of higher education institutions.
In the course of the research, analytical and bibliographic method was employed to study the scientific literature on the influence of the social environment on the process of personality formation. The questionnaire survey conducted by the authors of the study online served to clarify the most important issues related to the research topic in practice. According to the results of the study, the main important theoretical components of the process of influence of the social environment on the formation of personality have been identified. The point of view of practical psychologists and researchers-teachers of humanities universities on the key aspects of this issue has been investigated.
In the article, the author characterizes the issue of professional self-determination, outlining it as an important psychological and pedagogical problem, covering the process of becoming a specialist and his socialization, during which the future specialist acquires readiness for independent, creative professional activity based on awareness and subjective correlation of social requirements with their own potential (analysis of their internal resources) and existing abilities, a set of internal conditions, acquiring the ability to independently make decisions about important professional goals that make sense both for the subject himself and for society. The author reveals the essential characteristics of the phenomenon of «professional self-determination of the individual» from the point of view of domestic researchers. Activity, the ability to make independent choices, and the appropriate level of responsibility are among the most important constants of a specialist's self-determination. The scientist focuses on the directions, approaches and concepts of the development of the mentioned problem: professional orientation, personal activity and holistic approaches; socio-psychological direction; the concept of systemogenesis of professional activity and others. The author proves that in the course of an individual's life path, there is a direct dependence of professional self-determination on the level of maturity of a person, on the nature and methods of identification of the individual in relation to the profession. The researcher emphasizes the importance of the problem of self-determination in the process of becoming a specialist, where he notes the basic principles of professional self-determination of future specialists in the process of their professional training; proves that the presented process of professional development of the individual has specific properties, and the formation of professional self-determination is the primary basis and guarantee of the effectiveness of further professional development of the future specialist.
