(Russia). nfjodoro@ yandex.ru The article explores the conditions of life and activities of Orthodox clergy of the Kazan diocese, primarily in the city of Kazan and some Kazan suburbs, in the 1930s. Drawing upon published and archival sources, various forms of state pressure on the clergy are illustrated: "labor duties", identifying the lishentsy (disenfranchised citizens) by Komsomol "activists", raising tax pressure; and all other instruments with the main goal of eliminating the impact of Church institutions in society. The article further considers various ways used by the clergy for adapting to the situation of constant pressure, as well as forms of assistance to the clergy by the believers. The article assesses the effectiveness of the repressive social and economic measures of the state: it seems that the state achieved only tactical, but by no means the final goals. Even with a significant reduction in their numbers, the clergy was not squeezed out completely of the society. The remaining priests were able to adapt to the new realities and to maintain a certain influence.

The Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases is one of the oldest departments of Kazan State Medical University. It originates in the bowels of the medical faculty of the Kazan Imperial University. The founder and first head of the Department of Skin and Syphilitic Diseases was Professor A.G. Ge. There are three periods in the development of the scientific school, which differ in research issues and teaching methods. The first period from the birth of the school of A.G. Ge until the end of the 1920s, it is characterized by the fight against syphilis, which is reflected in the name of the department of skin and syphilitic diseases. The starting point of the second period in the history of the Kazan school of Dermatovenereology can be considered 1930, when the medical faculty of the university formed an independent institute the Kazan State Medical Institute. At this stage, it is difficult to identify the main scientific direction, the research was carried out based on the urgent tasks of the time. The third stage (from the 1970s to the present) is characterized by research into issues of allergy and its skin manifestations. Employees of the Department of Dermatovenerology of the Kazan State Medical University are currently continuing the main traditions of the Kazan dermatovenerological school.
The main stages of life and activity of V.F. Burgsdorf (1864-1935), his scientific achievements and priorities as the founder of one of the largest scientific schools in Russia are described. The representatives of this school made a huge contribution to the development of national dermatovenereology. Special attention was paid to the contribution of V.F. Burgsdorf in the creation of the second Russia svetlichnoe (phototherapy) offices in the STI clinic (Skin and Venereologic clinic) of A.G. Gе in Kazan on the territory of which currently is the Republican dermatovenerologic Dispensary. The work of A.G. Gе (1889-1925) in the STI clinic became one of the most productive periods of life and activities of V.F. Burgsdorf. In November 1900 V.F. Burgsdorf opens svetlichnoe (phototherapy) office with the support of prof. A.G. GE. Due to his medical and public authority, V.F.
