Polishchuk [1,2] has developed a practical method of determining the increased computed resistance of beds composed of silty-clayey soils with allowance for hardening under long-term service-induced loads. Determination of the angle of internal frictionϕ II con and specific cohesion c II con of the consolidated zone of the bed in contrast to other analogous computational procedures in which (using additional terms, or increasing coefficients) values of the design resistance R con of the consolidated bed are increased. The proposed method applies experimentally substantiated increasing coefficients K ϕ to the in-situ angle of internal friction ϕ II , and K c to the in-situ specific cohesion c II . Values of the strength characteristics with allowance for consolidation of the soils after a service period of more than 15 years are determined from the formulas:
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
