Highlights Sometimes the orbital mechanisms to protect the globe fail. Although rare, globe avulsion can occur after maxillofacial blunt trauma. Despite all efforts, permanent major sequels can occur after facial trauma.

Highlights Antibiotic therapy and surgical debridement as a form of treatment of actinomycosis. Actinomycosis does not respond well antibiotic therapy before curettage. Debridement proved to be important for the reduction of antibiotic therapy time.
