Purpose Innovative undertakings play a critical role in the economic value creation and wealth generation of a nation. This paper aims to contribute to the literature that positions innovation at the core of the tourism industry in the context of emerging markets. Design/methodology/approach The authors adopt a case study approach and draw on secondary sources of data to examine how the UAE is reaping the benefits of innovation to transform itself into a leading international leisure and entertainment hub. Findings The strategy of significant financial investment in complex mega-projects and major infrastructure development have offered the UAE a relative advantage over other industry giants worldwide. Nonetheless, the local government should continue tapping into the multiple and diverse opportunities that product/service and process innovation has to offer if the UAE ambitions to enhance its competitiveness and acquire the status of a global tourism hub. Originality/value While most research efforts to date focused on Western markets, this study contributes to the development of a knowledge base about the role of innovation in the tourism industry in emerging market settings.
Background: Time management training program concerned with giving insight into time wasters, changing time spending, and increasing the efficiency of workday for staff by learning them planning their work by prioritize activities, and manage emergency and unexpected tasks. Study aims to evaluate the effect of designed program of time management on daily time waters for nurses'. The subjects: No. = (118) staff nurses. Setting; Sohag & Qena Universities Hospitals. Tools; consists of 1) Time management questionnaire include personal characteristics and Time management scale; 2) Time waster Questionnaire. Results: mean score of total time managements at pre intervention (55.95±8.41), post (59.95±7.6), and follow up (63.67±9.8). Mean score of total time wasters at pre intervention (41.34±9.46), post (32.32±7.86), and follow up (24.93±5.98). Conclusion; there were high negative correlation between time management and time waster scores. There were high significant differences between studied nurses at pre, post and follow up intervention related goal setting, managing interruptions, procrastination time management, and time waster domains (internal and external). Recommendations: Training programs on time management should be provided for nursing staff at their various levels, policies, rules and regulations must be clarified for employees to preserve time, and records must be organized and coordinated to save time.
Background: Nowadays all higher educational institutions should develop and enhance their student's critical thinking and problem solving skills to be sure that its products meet or exceed market requirements. this study aimed to determine the impact of critical thinking and problem solving skills on academic achievement among nursing students, Setting; Faculty of Nursing Sohag University The subjects: No. = (448) students all 1 st and 4 th years, they examined using critical thinking, problem solving questionnaires and students achievement sheets, used descriptive correlational research design. The results revealed that; about (55.7%) of 4 th and (49%) of 1 st years nursing students were females, the 1 st year nursing students had unsatisfactory critical thinking (68.8%) and problem solving skills (63.73%), while the 4 th year had satisfactory critical thinking (84.03%) and problem solving skills (78.96%) with achieved point. The present study concluded that, there were positive correlations and statistical significant relation at 1 st and 4 th years nursing student's academic achievement with total critical thinking and problem solving skills for different nursing courses. The findings of the present study recommended that; critical thinking and problem solving skills measurements and development should be emphasized for undergraduates and postgraduates students and the importance of organized specialized training and workshop for nursing students to improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Self-esteem is considered as emotional response and general feeling about the self. Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand feelings and emotions, put them in a ways that make emotion and intelligent mature and healthy. The aim of the study to explore the relationship between self esteem and emotional intelligence among nursing managers, Research design: descriptive correlational research design used in this study. Setting: The present study conducted at Sohag and Damanhour University Hospitals. Subjects: 72 nursing mangers at two study setting 36 for each. Tools: the tools used in the study demographic data sheet, self esteem scale, and Emotional Intelligence questionnaire. Results: The highest percentage was low self esteem at sohag (52.8%) and Damanhour (44.4%), and they were low emotional intelligence at sohag (47.2%) and Damanhour (33.3%). Conclusion: There were highly positive correlation between all studied variable and highly significant difference between mean scores related to self-esteem and emotional intelligence items and total of studied nursing managers at Sohag and Damanhour hospitals with p value <0.01. Recommendations: provide emotional skills training, try to build relationships with positive people, and learn to be assertive
