In general, automotive engines are required to have high safety and reliability . Camshaft is a particularly important component for controlling exhaust gas of a combustjen engine , determining the perfbrmance of the engine . Th ロ s the shape ofthe cam surface has been finished to a high − precision , It is important to examine the cam track surface condition , However , since the cam surface is the complex shape , there is almost no method to observe the cam surface , Therefore , 山 evisual inspections of the camshafts have been carried out by experts . However , traceability is not guaranteed because the observation image cannot be taken . It is difficult to observe the shape of the cam surface using conventional optical 血 croscope . These microscopes take too much time to observe the surface because their field of view is not so wide , In this study , we developed a new method of observing the whole cam surface using the laser microscope having a wide field of view . To view the observation image , a three − dimensiona1 yiew program was created using DirectX. It is easy to find out the flaw positions using this program .
