The paper elaborates and substantiates the theoretical and methodological foundations of managing the innovation-oriented development of agro-food enterprises in the direction of forming their competitive potential. It has been established that the management of agro-food businesses should be considered as a system, that is, a set of individual elements that have relative independence from one another but are simultaneously interacting with one another and have a common purpose. The management system includes organizational and economic relations and methods of influence on the production process for the achievement of socio-economic, financial, technical and other goals. The agro-food enterprise management system allows to make sound management decisions in the agro-food industries at both operational and strategic levels of development. The mechanism of management of the innovation-oriented development of agro-food enterprises has been developed. In the process of research, we have identified the main stages of the mechanism of management of innovation-oriented development of agro-food enterprises, which consist of the formation, implementation and evaluation of the implementation of the strategy of development of agro-food industry. The cyclical nature of the management of the process of innovative development of agro-food enterprises influences the successful completion of each of the indicated stages and determines the effectiveness of each of them. It has been determined that innovation development management allows enterprises to operate in the long run, focuses on achieving their own competitive advantages through timely response to changing conditions in the external and internal environment and satisfaction of consumer demand for manufactured products. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that its scientific-theoretical results, practical proposals, conclusions and generalizations form the scientific basis for the development of strategic directions of innovative development of agro-food production at the sectoral and economic levels. Implementation of the proposed measures will help to increase production efficiency and ensure the process of formation of innovative development of the agro-food sector of the economy.
