A total of 40 castrated male pigs of the Spanish autochthonous Chato Murciano breed were used for this study to evaluate the influence of two diets. One group of 20 pigs was fed with a high protein/low fat (HP/LF) diet and slaughtered with life weight (LW) of 125.03 kg. The other group of 20 pigs was fed with a low protein/high fat (LP/HF) diet and slaughtered with 121.91 kg LW. The effects of diet on carcass and meat quality traits were studied. Meat samples were taken from the longissimus lumbar (LL) muscle. The HP/LF diet produced a faster growing rate and higher daily weight gain, and measurements in the LL muscle showed higher values of ultimate pH (pHu), colour parameters, and higher content in Ca, Mg, Zn, K and Na. The LP/HF diet led to higher values of Fe and Cu. The difference in the LL muscle intramuscular fat (IMF) levels was noteworthy, with values of 3.21 % in the HP/LF group and 11.00 % in the LP/HF group; however, the dorsal fat thickness measurements showed no differences. The fatty acid composition of the IMF was 42.43 and 42.29 % of saturated fatty acids (SFA), 50.34 and 51.35 % of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and 7.20 and 6.24 % of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) for the HP/LF group and LP/HF group respectively, with only statistically significant differences in the MUFA levels (P≤0.05). Eine Gruppe mit 20 Schweinen ist mit einer proteinreichen bzw. fettarmen Diät (HP/LF) gefüttert worden. Die Tiere wurden mit einem durchschnittlichen Lebendgewicht (LW) von 125,03 kg geschlachtet worden. Die andere Gruppe, die ebenfalls 20 Schweine umfasste, ist mit einer proteinarmen bzw. fettreichen Diät (LP/HF) gefüttert worden. Die Tiere dieser Gruppe sind mit einem durchschnittlichen Lebendgewicht von 121,91 kg geschlachtet worden. Die untersuchten Fleischproben wurden vom Muskel Longissimus lumbar (LL) entnommen. Als Ergebnis dieser Untersuchung zeigte sich, dass die HP/LF Diät ein schnelles Wachstum und eine hohe tägliche Gewichtszunahme verursachte. Außerdem wurden in Arch Tierz 52 (2009) 2, 150-160 151 dem LL-Muskel dieser Gruppe verglichen mit den Ergebnissen der LP/HF-Gruppe höhere pH-Werte (pHu), höhere Farbparametern (L * , a * , b * ) und höhere Ca-, Mg-, Zn-, K-und Na-Gehalte ermittelt. Die LP/HF-Diät verursachte höhere Fe-und Cu-Werte. Die Unterschiede bei den intramuskulären Fettgehalten (IMF) waren signifikant mit Werten von 3,21 % in der HP/LF-Gruppe und 11,00 % in der LP/HF-Gruppe. Die Rückenspeckdicken waren jedoch ähnlich. The use of natural plants for the control and treatment of diseases is an alternative to drugs and antibiotics. In the present test the hot pepper (Capsicum Minimum) was used as an anticoccidial in broiler chickens, it was taken as a reference to salinomycin (control) including 350g / ton, faced with three increasing levels of hot pepper flour (350, 500 and 1000g / ton). For the effect, 160 newborn chicks of the Cobb 500 line were used, distributed in four treatments and four repetitions under a completely randomized design, for the comparison of means the discrete Tukey test (0,05) was used, the data were analysed in the free version of InfoStat 2014 program. The variables analysed were weight, feed consumption, feed conversion, mortality and counting of Eimeria oocysts in faeces. Regarding the weight, the treatments presented statistical equality (p> 0.05), numerically T3 registered the highest (2405.13 ± 43.33); and food conversion T1 and T2 (1.69), T3 and T4 (1.80) did not present differences between their means. Regarding mortality, T3 did not present deaths, not so, T4 (2.5%); T2 (5%) and T1 (10%); for oocyte count of E. Tenella and Acervulina T3 and T4 do not register eggs, T1 (3000 and 4500) and T2 (2500 and 1500, respectively). The hot pepper flour has anticoccidial activity in broiler chickens, its inclusion did not alter the productive parameters of the flock, which is recommended to be used during the fattening stage of the chickens or fowls.
The purpose of the present study was to compare two types of "in vitro" digestibility assays by using commercial enzymes and guinea pig cecalliquor with the in vivo assay, to identify the assay that most resembles the in vivo response. The alfalfa was used in two cutting times of 30 and 45 days. The "in vivo" digestibility of alfalfa was analyzed, obtaining that after 30 days of cutting the digestibility was 53.64% and at 45 days it was 47.72%, while for the digestibility "in vitro", the DaisyII®-Ankom Technology with cecal liquor and commercial pepsin; for the cecal liquor a value of 55.46% and 49.90% was obtained, for the alfalfa in the two cutting times, while the digestibility with enzymes was 71.01% and 66.34% respectively. It was determined that the method with more relation to the in vivo test corresponds to the trial with cecal liquor, because it presents a lower statistical difference (p <0.05) for both cut-off times. At the same time, it is identified that the protein is the nutrient that has a higher digestibility coefficient, becoming an indicator of the nutritional quality of the food.
Se investigó el efecto de la adición de metil -β-ciclodextrina cargada de colesterol en medios de congelación con el objetivo de evaluar la calidad espermática post descongelación. Previo a la evaluación se realizó la pre dilución 1:1 dividiéndola en 3 alícuotas, para la inclusión de CLC (T0:0 mg, T1:1,5 mg, T2:3,0 mg) las cuales fueron incubadas a 37ºC por 15 minutos, pasado este tiempo se realizó la dilución final empajillándolas inmediatamente en pajuelas de 0,5 ml, llevándolas al congelador automático, descendiendo la temperatura progresivamente hasta los -196ºC y almacenándolas en el tanque de nitrógeno líquido, las pajuelas fueron descongeladas cada 7 días para su respectiva valoración. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó un Diseño Completamente al Azar, obteniendo diferencias significativas P(<0,01) para la viabilidad, motilidad, vitalidad e integridad de la membrana con medias de 56,00%; 63,50%; 75,36%; 60,08% respectivamente pertenecientes al T1, en cuanto, a las morfoanomalias no se encontraron diferencias estadísticas sin embargo el T2 presentó mayor porcentaje con una media de 5,40%; siendo el mejor nivel de utilización el T1, recomendando la adición de 1,5 mg CLC en medios de crioconservación ya que de acuerdo a los resultados obtenidos se espera obtener mejores parámetros reproductivos.
