Formation of Chlorosiloxanes by Hydrolysis.-Si 2 OCl 5 OH is identified by mass spectrometry as an intermediate in the gas phase reaction of Si 2 OCl 6 and H 2 O. Reactive intermediates like this are responsible for the formation of higher chlorosilanes by slow hydrolysis of chlorosilanes and -siloxanes. Reaction products of inter-and intramolecular condensation reactions are detected by GC-MS methods.
