Maize is one of the food commodities that have a very important role both in food security efforts and in other sectors. Maize is used by various groups either for seeds, feed of independent breeders, feed mill raw materials, direct consumption of household, and also for raw materials of food industry. Tuban Regency is the district of maize which is also the biggest contribution to maize production in East Java. Tuban Regency is in the first place by contributing 8.07% to total maize production in East Java Provinsis. The objectives of the research are 1. To know the extent to which factors of production of seeds, chemical fertilizers, organic fertilizers, herbicides, and labor in influencing the production of maize. 2. To know the technical efficiency level of maize farming in Maindu Village. 3. To know the social factor of age, education level (dummy), land area (dummy), and the number of family (dummy) that influence technical efficiency of maize farming in research area. The result of the first objective is known that the factors that influence the existing maize farming in the research area are seed, chemical fertilizer and labor. The second objective result is the level of technical efficiency in the research area obtained the average value is 0.77 or 77%. The third objective result is the social factor that influence technical efficiency of maize farming that exist in research area are education level, and also land area.
The consumption of maize (Zea mays) in Indonesia is a direct consumption by household level, allocation for feed, seedling and processed into food industry and non food industry. Corn production in Indonesia reached 19,612,435 tons with the highest contributor of production of East Java as much as 6.131.163 tons or 31.2% of the total national maize production. The location of the research in Maindu Village, Montong District, Tuban Regency, East Java Province. The objectives of this research are: (1) To analyze the level of farmer's technical efficiency (2) To analyze the level of peat allocative efficiency (3) to analyze the level of farmer's economic efficiency. The method of analysis used is Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results obtained are the average level of technical efficiency is quite high at 0.833 or 83.3%. The number of farmers who are categorized as very efficient (> 0,843) counted 34 farmers (53,9%). The number of farmers who operate on the scale of CRS (Constant Return to Scale) 22% (14 farmers) and the operating IRS (Increasing Return to Scale) 68% (43 farmers) while operating on the scale of DRS (Decreasing Return to Scale) as much as 10% (6 farmers). The average value of farmers' allocative efficiency is quite high at 0.746 or 74.6%. Number of farmers included in the category of highly efficient Allocative (> 0.871) as many as 11 people (17.46%). The average value of economic efficiency is quite low at 0.623 or 62.3%. The number of farmers included in the category is very efficient economically (> 0.825) as many as 11 people (17.46%)..
